TeamGOAT – Fontana to Flagstaff

TeamGOAT

We got to Fontana close to 8:00 am. There were probably about four teams already there! We waited until 9:00 for the last teams to arrive, with a total of 14 teams! TeamGOAT has an inflatable goat which we had everyone sign. I also made some breast cancer ribbons which I handed out to each member of the teams that were there. I will hand out the rest once we hit Amarillo! We all picked our started numbers that are on some pretty bad ass key chains. We then lined up and got ready to go! TeamGOAT headed out of Fontana at 9:28 this morning!

In our convoy is TeamSlowbra, TeamEvoX, & TeamSketchy. Our first checkpoint was Roy’s Motel & Café in Amboy, California. We stopped long enough to take our checkpoint picture, use the restroom, and figure out how to get to our next destination. On we went, to checkpoint number two: Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Needles, California. We stopped here for lunch and enjoyed catching up with some of the other teams! We filled with gas and got back on the road!

On our way to the third checkpoint, we came across an old man pushing a shopping cart in the middle of the highway. We all came to the conclusion that he probably owns one of the biggest houses in the area and was just taking a walk. Our third checkpoint was the Grand Canyon Caverns at Mile Marker 115. I don’t know that there is a town associated with it, but it was just east of Peach Springs. We stopped there and took pictures with the dinosaurs and attempted to check out the gift shop, which was sadly closed.

On our way to the final destination, TeamEvoX was almost taken out by a semi that didn’t care to use his blinker. Thankfully, due to some great handling, and three different horns, the semi went back into his lane and TeamEvoX made it safely back into his lane. We arrived at our final destination in Flagstaff, Arizona to check in with John from TeamChallenger from Season Three of Bullrun. We all were able to check into our rooms with no problems and are now relaxing. The only downfall to the drive, are the bugs! There was a large amount of bugs. So far, it has been a great experience, and we’re just getting started.
