Message To Left-Lane Lollygaggers

By Jen Dunnaway

If you’ve got a long haul ahead of you, it’s not a bad idea to bandage up your finish with painter’s tape. But before you put the hammer down, an inverse-lettered advisory to those dawdling along in the left lane might help smooth your progress as well. Of course, anyone doing the  speed limit in the passing lane is probably too oblivious to check their mirror very often. I wonder if this worked. Via Jalopnik.

I’ve been tempted, but my idea was a scrolling LED sign mounted along the top of the inside of the windshield, on the back of the sign would be a multimirror rear-view panorama.
not ruling it out.

I did a similar thing with a 80s s-10 for a while, I did the inverse lettering MOVE IT MORON in painted block letters across a bug shield on the truck you would be surprised how often it worked.

Well, there’s nothing like the sound of a snarling V8 to get the lollygaggers’ attention just long enough to get them to look in the mirror and move over as you whiz by. But if you don’t have a V8, then I guess the “Move over” sign is always an option…

its painters tape it shouldnt harm anything. i’ve always wanted a bumper sticker that read “They call it the FAST LANE for a reason!” guess i’ll have to make it myself

Great idea, I don’t know about having tape on your paint for more than a few days but still I’d love to see if it worked.

i had one on the windshield of my caprice, it worked about half the time. most people would look, laugh, then move.
