NorthWest Auto Salon Details Barn Fresh 1967 Hemi Charger

Blake’s buddy is using this 4-speed 1967 Hemi Charger in his wedding this weekend, so Blake took his team out to detail the rare Mopar (one of just 58 built), which had been sitting for 20 years. The old B-body has had the same owner since 1968 and has just 37,908 documented miles, with the original drivetrain, paint, etc.
The NorthWest Auto Salon team put a total of 24 man hours into the car to get it as clean as possible. They spent two hours washing the car and prepping the door jambs and all the chrome trim, over eight hours on the chrome/brightwork, about two hours claybarring the surface to remove the 20 years of grime, and then about six hours buffing and polishing the lead-based enamel paint, de-molding the interior, cleaning and conditioned the vinyl, waxing the car and polishing the pitted mag wheels. Along the way they also removed several mice homes scattered through the interior. Blake said it was one of the biggest transformations he’s ever done. They didn’t get to the engine bay–that will have to wait til after the wedding!
So here’s a pic of what they started with. See the a ton more pics after the jump!

Car Culture At Large
As the 28th of August gets closer (quite literally each day in fact) Josh Allen has released this ten minute video from the third round of the JDM Allstars series which took place earlier this month at the Nissan UK factory in Sunderland. The Wembley event will surely be the high point of the European drifting calendar for 2010. For further information on the event, check out the JDM Allstars website.

The Nightmare that is DMV
HotRodHoney
For many of us, DMV can be a total nightmare. You’ve purchased a car, you can’t wait to register it and then you collect what you’re pretty sure is all the items you need to get it registered and titled, so you head over to your local Department of Motor Vehicles…
After what feels like an eternity, they FINALLY call your number, you bounce over with a spring in your step and merrily hand the clerk your paperwork. He/she takes one glance (barely) and in a most condescending manner informs you that you’re going to have to go get [insert item here] and try again. …Oh and of course you will have to take a new number and wait in line all over again. *sigh*
While many DMV offices have become slightly more efficient in the recent years, (thank you computers) there are still plenty of headaches out there. I’ve put together a few tips to be sure you’ve included everything you need. Read them after the jump!
2011 Mustang V6 Takes On Two Mustang GT’s
powerTV Media
When Ford announced that their new 3.7 liter V6 engine would make 305 horsepower, everybody was pleasantly surprised. After enduring 17 years of the humdrum 4.0 liter V6 (with just 210 horsepower and 240 ft-lbs of torque) the base Mustang finally had an engine drivers could be proud of. It even made more horsepower than many previous generation V8’s.
Need proof? Check out this YouTube video of a Mustang V6 taking on a 2003 and 1993 Mustang GT at Dorchester Dragway. Just for fun, there is a Nissan Murano thrown in the mix. Read more on the runs at StangTV.com
Vintage Rolls-Royce Vs. Nürburgring
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
The 1970s Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow was no sports car, and putting it up against “The Ring” is like trying to ride a drunken elephant through a fine China shop. However, with the right driving technique even this massive land beast can be as nimble as a mouse. Using weight to its advantage, the luxurious suspension allowed the Rolls to live up to its name and effectively roll through the corners. It’s not setting any Nürburgring records, but it is fun to watch. Read more about the Rolls-Royce Nürburgring experience at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.
