3-Piece Wheels
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
I wanted to discuss an often overlooked topic about 3pc wheels. Wheel companies have interesting ways to increase the diameter of rims without increasing the actual centers of the wheels. This NSX is a perfect example because it runs staggered rim sizes of 19″ up front and 20″ on the rear. If you notice the lips, the rears have an extra inch of height built into the lips to accept smaller centers. As a result a larger wheel can be used without engineering a larger center. From a distance the visual downside is that it does not look any bigger because the size perception of wheels often rests with the spoke length. However on a car like the NSX rarely do 20″ wheels look appropriate, this is a great way to pull off 20″s while still making the car look sporty and not ridiculous.

Great 1980s TV Car Stunts
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
There wasn’t a better time in world history to be a stunt man than the 1980′s. Long before the advent of computer effects and complex filming processes, stunt men made it happen. If you wanted a large 1960′s sedan to be wrecked in huge fashion, you hired a stunt man and pointed him in the direction of the stuff you wanted him to hit. He probably did a little cocaine and set right off to complete the job. Oh yes the 1980′s were special.
Big budget (for the time) series like the A-Team, Dukes of Hazzard, CHiPS Patrol, and others provided lots of work and sadly lots of junked 1960′s iron. You’ll see all sorts of neato cars and truck totally destroyed in these clips, all in the name of good TV. Despite that, this is awesome stuff to watch. It is also awesome to think about the fact that there are real people doing all this wacky stuff! Back then you earned your Member’s Only jacket. They didn’t just give that shit away.

The Camo Wagon

Car Culture At Large
Being active in the German drift scene, it is inevitable that every second car I see or shoot is a BMW, as the parts cost next to nothing compared to those of JDM models. That said, referring to this car as ‘just another drift BMW’ would be a big mistake. It belongs to Michael Sahli from Driftteam Switzerland who has been thrashing it sideways since the beginning of 2008. It started its life in 1991 as an E30 325i Touring and eventually landed in the hands of Michu in 2007. Continue reading at Speedhunters

The Quest for a College Beater: Success!
By Alex Vickers
Katakuna
After months of constant searching, disappointments and near deals, I’ve finally acquired (and payed for) a college beater. Yep, you no longer have to listen to me go on and on about buying a car! What kind of car, you ask? A 1993 Mercury Cougar XR7.
Now, my father paid $250 for the car, but I’m only to pay back half of that. Can you imagine scoring such a sweet ride for $125! It runs perfectly! No missing, no backfiring, it doesn’t so much as burn a drop of oil. Brakes are new, tires are decent, and almost no rust. The interior, it’s not great, but it’s not the worst I’ve seen. The power seats work (yeah, power seats in a $125 car) even! There’s a mystery burn on the steering wheel…
Not bad for a car that sat in a parking lot for six months, eh? What do you guys think?

Soccer Fan Kicked Off BMW
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
I’m not sure what really happened here, but I know the soccer fan who was kicked off the BMW was totally feeling that hit the next day. I’d like to think the driver “accidentally” dropped the clutch. Upon examination, it totally looks like he had enough of the soccer fan and did it on purpose. Either way, it’s pretty funny. What do you think?
