Sketchy Street Drifting

By Karan Singh

StreetFire.net

Where would you go if you wanted to work on your drift technique? Well, if you were these guys, you’d find the most crowded public road in your neighborhood and practice amongst the locals. Not sure about the traffic laws in the country where this video was filmed, but I’m glad people can’t get away with this here!

SunLine Racing Skyline 370 GT

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

Following the fourth round of D1 a few weeks ago, I took some time to drop by and say hello to Sato-san at SunLine Racing in Okayama city. I always make a point to stop by if I’m in the area because Sato-san is one guy I always love to chat to. We share a lot of common opinions and tastes when it comes to cars and seem to always be on the same page on most things. As soon as I pulled up at the SLR shop I noticed something very interesting parked up front and judging from the body color I instantly assumed it was their latest demo car. Turns out this deep red V36 Skyline 370GT is a customer car that was in to get some much needed ECU tuning. Read more at Speedhunters.

Old School: Ford Crash Research From The 50′s!

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Crash testing is a normal part of modern automotive engineering. Sensors, wires, high speed cameras and all manner of complicated testing widgets are used to make sure new cars are as safe as possible. Back in the late 1950′s crash testing was just starting to resemble what we know it as today.

The funny part is that the technology used for these tests is very crude by today’s standards. The car to be cashed was towed into a parked car. The car that was being towed was wired into a testing truck that drove in parallel with it. That truck had an umbilical cord of wires attached to the car beside it and a couple of guys in the back to record data.

We’ve come a long way since these days!

What’s The Most You’ve Ever Paid To Wash Your Car?

By Jen Dunnaway

Being a big fan of the coin-op pressure washer, where I’ve been known to drop up to 10 bucks worth of quarters to get my ride completely sparkling without touching a brush to it, I’m always kind of blown away to learn of the prices charged at higher-end detailing shops. A couple hundred bucks for a detail wash? Three hundred or four? And that 1,000-dollar jar of exotic wax that Blake at NorthWest Auto salon showed us? It’s impressive, even if it all seems just a bit loony at the same time. But the detail shops have nothing on this entrepreneur in the UK, whose signature service is a $10,950 cleaning. It’s like car washing as conspicuous consumption, and it just goes to show that if you charge it, some rich sucker will pay. But I sort of feel like, for that price, the wash should come with a new car.

How about you? What’s the most you’ve shelled out to get your ride sparkly-clean?

Land Cruiser in the Hole

By Ron Honig

WaytooFurious

Over the years that I have been driving I have had the occasional misfortune of hitting a pot hole. The worst thing that has ever happened to me was the day that my old Valiant hit a hole that buckled one wheel and resulted in me having to get a wheel alignment. However, my small misfortune pales in comparison to what happened to this driver in Saudi Arabia. Somehow the driver managed to drive his car into a well. The only problem was that it was 60 meters deep, and his car went all the way to the bottom! How he ever survived is anyone’s guess. More pics after the jump.

What New Vehicle Would You Pick For a Cross-Country Road Trip?

By Rob Einaudi

Summer is here. Let’s say you have a month off to criss-cross the country in the new vehicle of your choice. The car is yours to use for free, you just have to pay for gas. And it has to be under $50k (so yes the base Vette just squeeks by). I’d go with the Challenger SRT-8. How about you?

I love the Unimog in any form, but I think this zombie-crushing camper version is the way to go if what you really want is to cruise the ruins of civilization in style. It’s on eBay now! Via Ridelust.

The car-spotting over here does not stop! I didn’t know these existed until I spied this super-clean example while out shopping. Does anyone have any info on this little beauty? Another view after the jump.

Epic Honda NSX Video

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

This is not your average epic video, this is art. It’s rare to see a clip that one could consider a modern masterpiece, but this short film is so epic it’s like it was sent from the JDM gods themselves. Created by Daniel Michaelis, this video captures the true essence of what the Honda NSX stands for; speed, agility, and style! Read more about the epic clip at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.
