Ford’s Electric Future
By Jen Dunnaway

Back at the beginning of the 80′s, Ford set out to build a true “World Car”–the Escort–a version of which was to appear on every continent on Earth, making it a global vehicle in a way that hadn’t been earnestly attempted since the Model T. Though I continue to drive a Ford Escort (or two) just about every day, I’d sure never driven an electric car. But with its new global electrification strategy, the next-gen Focus already billed as the company’s next “World Car,” and the all-new electric Focus spearheading its varied fleet of battery-electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, Ford is embarking on something far more ambitious than the last world-car effort.
But forget about world domination for a second–let’s talk about the car. On the road, I found the all-electric Focus to be a total darling. Continue reading…

Porsches Playing In Vancouver
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
I was zoning out on this extremely pretty adver-mercial for the 2011 Cayman, when it hit me: no wonder the video is so gorgeous, it’s filmed in Vancouver! See if you can correctly identify four of Vancouver’s iconic bridges, the Expo ball (hint: it’s the ball), and Stanley Park where I used to rally my Escort GT in high school. Or just enjoy the cars. What’s Your Best Car Injury Story?
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
In my experience around classics, there hasn’t been much I haven’t done to myself. I’ve had fingers pinched by a Packard Patrician, knuckles annihilated by a Triumph TR-250, and knee incised during Healey Hundred ingress. If I were to rate the injuries, though, my best has been nearly knocking myself out cold from hitting my head on the corner of a Ferrari 308 GT4 engine lid water runoff tray.
That was until yesterday, when I managed to hurt myself in a way most auto fanatics could only dream of: I ran over my big toe with a 105-year-old car! Continue reading after the jump.

AC Cobra Bites The Curb
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
How does the curb taste? I like my curb with a bit of seasoning salt coupled with a dash of priceless exotic heritage. Coming down with a bad case of curb rash, this poor Cobra was driven badly right into disaster. There are some things in life that just shouldn’t be done, and curbing an AC Cobra is one of them. The AutoTrader Classics Redster is Launched!
By Fireball Tim
Movie Car Design Master
Well, it’s official. Cat’s outta the bag and there’s no stopping it. Redster, the movie truck I’ve been working on, is here to stay. Sunday’s launch was a huge success, with more than 250 in attendance. The crew from Star Car Central and Knights of the West Coast all came in for a huge party. We had visitors from all over the country as the awesome KLOS DJ Uncle Joe Benson opened the show. Then came the food, a ton of cool cars and the lead-up to the Redster’s big reveal.
Official photos will be published soon–keep an eye on the Redster’s Facebook page for all upcoming build episodes, starting next week, along with more pics from the launch party and the build. And for now, follow the jump for some more pics from the party!
