Porsche 993 LS2 Swap
By Rob Einaudi

Not sure how the Porsche purists will feel about this one, but I think it’s pretty cool. Tamparacing via VWVortex

The weight difference between the two engines isn’t that much. You’d be surprised how little an LS motor weighs. It weighs less than the 4 cylinders in the Nissan sylvias. It might not be as advanced in some people’s opinions, but in mine it is more advanced. It will produce more power before getting to the point where it is too peaky to drive on the street. Reliability is comparable(seriously). Maintenance on the GM powerplant is much cheaper and easier. Replacement parts are cheaper and easier to find. Other than the sacrilege of putting a non-porsche engine in a porsche, I think it makes sense. The 928 LS swap is better in every way. Lighter, handles better, more powerful, more reliable. Sounds better, cheaper to run, better mileage, parts availability.
Don’t let misconceptions steer you away from what is actually a good product. Crappy reputation versus sterling reputation isn’t the same as crap versus sterling.

Sounds mean. We need more vids to see it in action plus 0-60 and 1/4 mile times!!! I wonder what the weight ratio is on that thing though!

Leave the PORSCHE ALONE!! I have no idea why you would do that to a 993 that car is awork of art and not to mention eventhough its 14+ years old its still far more advanced than anything GM has built! Unless it was a joke or you were bored and thought trying to stuff a V8 in a Carrera would be funny it was a retarted idea I hope you werent taking this serious!!

What a crime!!! Cudnt it be done on a different Porsche? A 964 or a 997? Something older? Had it have to be done on a 993!? Best 911 ever n someone screws it up banging a GM engine into it.

nice conversion i like it very well done… but i find the chevy to be infiltrator to the Porsche motor, but like the fact that it was done. most likly they used the same Porsche trans with an adapter plate…

Hell yeah, now that’s a challenging swap! As Steve Little said, love seeing Chevy engines in other cars.

Another GM engine swap into a non GM, I love it. You know the LS engines are bad ass when people are swapping them into anything from other GM cars, GM trucks, non GM cars rather it’s a Ford, Mopar, imports or even Jap Imports.

Porsche purist or not you gotta appreciate the craftsmanship that it took to complete this swap. Wonder what kind of tranny he’s using ?
