Maybe he saw that video of the GT-R getting owned by White Zombie and decided to save himself the embarrassment…

Like Sleeping In Your Car, Only Better: The V8 Hotel in Stuttgart

By Jen Dunnaway

This is probably the best hotel I’ve seen with a decor scheme based on automotive kitsch. Located within the Meilenwerk automotive museum, the V8 Hotel has a total of 34 rooms, each one is done a little differently–the car-containing rooms include this 70′s Cadillac drive-in scene, a Mercedez-Benz carwarsh, and a Morris Minor garage. Pretty cool–see more pics below the jump, and check out the hotel’s website here. Via BornRich.

Hemmings Find Of The Day: 1978 Pontiac Trans Am

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

Y’know, there just aren’t many instances of a car company taking advantage of pop culture promotion of its cars like the Bandit Trans Am. Off the top of my head, all I can think of are the Graduate Alfa Romeo Spiders and the recent Bumblebee Camaros. Anyway, this 1978 Pontiac Trans Am  for sale on Hemmings.com looks from the photos to be an excellent example of the Y82 Special Edition. From the seller’s description:

ws6 performance package ,hurst t-tops, phs documentation, build sheet ,window sticker, matching numbers, complete ground up restoration in 2003,stored in heated garage, hardly driven,400 pontiac motor bored .060 ,speed pro pistons, moly rings, comp cam, edelbrock intake/750 cfm carb,#62 cyl heads off 67 gto motor, still have orig heads, headers, dual exaust, very fast ,turbo350 trans,b-m torque converter, shift kit sub-frame connectors, polygrafite bushings, all new a/c components under hood, too much more to list, this is not a clone or a tribute car or a replica but it is a 1978 Pontiac Trans Am, true y82 at a realistic price, vin#2w87zn138201. this car is awsome, fast and handles unbelievable. The interior is totally new, even the dash and the decals are perfect, this car is originally from texas.

I put a new starter in my diesel Escort–it’s nice to have the little thumper running again. Then on my Escort GT, I finally installed the new radiator Chris got me for my birthday.

How about you? What did you do this weekend?

Truck Drifting: Mazda BT-50

By Alex Quail

Alex Quail

Hey guys, I’m Alex Quail from Drifted.com and this is my first post on the CarDomain blog. I’m a big fan of rare/unorthodox drift cars (or trucks, as the case may be), so when I first saw photos of this awesome Mazda BT-50, it quickly became one of my favourites. Although I’d style it differently, and the ride height isn’t particularly to my liking, the truck still appeals to me. The fact that it still retains the original 3.0 litre diesel engine is pretty amazing, and I doubt I’ll see many other BT-50s drifting any time soon! This truck definitely has presence and I applaud the builders for choosing something different. (More pics and info after the jump!)

GM’s Other Hot Rod

By Chris Bicknell

Bick66

Plenty of automakers have had a hand in manufacturing non-car-related products, but I had no idea that back in the day General Motors made residential furnaces. This beastly 1954 GM Delco-Heat converted oil furnace came out of a buddy of mine’s house this weekend. Weird!

Lightweight Body Panel Battery

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

The future of automotive technology is quickly progressing towards the greener side of things. This isn’t always bad though, especially when considering advancements in electrical storage and vehicular weight reduction.  Replacing the battery and excessive wiring thus reducing weight, this is sure to hit the automotive and electronic market like a tidal wave. Read more about the lightweight body panel battery at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.
