Mitsubishi Evo Pulls GMC Sierra From Ditch
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Who needs a tow truck when you’ve got an all-wheel drive import laying around? Thanks to the Tow Mater Evo (notice the color), this 7,000 pound GMC Sierra was set free from the clutches of an evil, two foot deep ditch. This isn’t the first JDM to pull a truck, don’t forget about the Subaru pulling a stuck semi out of the snow. Read more at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.
7,000 < 70,000 = Subaru for the win. Sorry, I can’t help myself.

1st off that truck wasn’t in a 2 feet evil ditch, it’s more like childs play because I am willing to bet my car and truck that he had bald tires and sucks at backing up. 2nd when the truck got “stuck” he probably left it in drive and reving it up instead of putting it in 1st. I will applaud the evo because they made a video of an evo pulling something. It’s kind of like filming your childs first step, everyone can do it but it’s a first. Want some impresive pulling (not car related) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X021guRUxJQ

But I know I don’t know anything so why pay attention to any of my comments. Every comment I say I’m wrong no matter what it’s about so I’m not even going to post on here or anywhere anymore. fuck it

A pinto could have “helped” pull the truck out. Some people think it’s a dead weight pull, NOT. I agree with “Steve”. Just because a chain was hooked to the Evo, doesn’t make it a “tree stump puller” How about putting both vehicles on dry ground and pull each other, my money is on the truck….look up “torque”.

lol well I figured the Evo was a lot louder because a stock single exhaust on these trucks isn’t really that loud and the truck wouldn’t have to be flooring it to spin. But I saw there was also guys pushing it also helping. If you look when they show the ditch after it got pulled out you do see a mark leading from the ditch. Not in the ditch from the truck spinning trying to get out, but on the driver side there’s about a 2 foot mark so that jsut makes em think he was giving it at least a little gas in the truck. On a factory single exhaust giving it just a little gas you won’t hear it over the loud Evo but I guess I’m wrong about that to. And by the way I was never “hating” on the Evo because if I was would I have said “So I know the Evo is powerful” in the last sentence. But hey what do I know, apparently not a damn thing.

Why is the truck guy hating on the EVO?? haha. No need to get so technical with weight of the truck & towing power. I think we all know the truck is heavier. It was clear that the ALL wheel drive 305 WHP car pulled out the 2 wheel drive truck. And I really couldnt hear the roar of the truck over the EVO. The bottome line is that the truck was stuck. A suped up civic could not have pulled it out. The all wheel drive EVO did.

Oh yeah, and as my WIFE pointed out to me (after I clicked post comment of course) If the truck would have been ‘spinning’ its tires then we would hear the roar of the truck engine and the wheel wells of the truck would have been coated in mud.

Wow Steve, you sure sucked all the fun out of this video… And here I was only going to make fun of the hound dog and the shoddy camera work.

First off that truck isn’t 7.000 lbs. you’re thinking of the max towing capacity of it. I have a Silverado of the same body style (88-98 GMT-400 platform) and my truck only weighs about 4.500 lbs (not curb weight, actual weight with fluids and the stuff I have on it) and that’s 4×4, that truck was only 2 wheel drive. Also I wonder why the camera man didn’t show the truck while being pulled out. I can almost guarantee that the truck was also spinning tires which means all the Evo did was give the truck just enough extra power to get out just like the Subaru pulling the semi, the semi was also spinning its tires. Lets see the Evo do it with the truck just sitting and not helping. 2 reason why I think the Evo couldn’t do it unless the truck was also helping. 1st is that the Evo just doesn’t have the gearing made to pull out something that weighs 1 ton more especially on grass. Also ya it’s AWD but the gearing ratio is the same as a 4×4 truck or SUV’s 4HI. A 4WD 4LO is the lower gearing for mudding, other loose surfaces and pulling, 4HI is for ice and snow, that kinda thing. So I know the Evo is powerful but it’s not way the Evo could pull out a 4,500 lb truck unless the truck also was spinning the tires to help.

I LOVE IT ! 4WD IS THE BEST , EVEN ON A EVO !
