Woodgrain Speedo

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

If this isn’t ultimate 70′s hotness, I don’t know what is. It very much reminds me of those wood-slab clocks that once adorned the walls of countless trailers and pea-green living rooms. The earthy gauge is off this AMC Matador Barcelona coupe, currently on eBay. Via Brown Car Appreciation Society.

Supra Test Mule – But What’s it For?

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

Hello all, this one’s a little different…On the Gazoo Racing day out at Fuji Speedway on Friday, a number of us remarked on a fleet of six Supra JZA80s driving down the main straight while we were tucking into our bento lunches. The cars were all conspicuously old and very worn looking, at least on the surface – each appearing to have covered an extraordinary amount of mileage – I’m talking a million klicks-type of levels here. The cars were obviously well-used test mules. But what were they being used for (at least on this occasion….). Continue reading at Speedhunters

Hot Rod Pile Up

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Hot rods that get driven occasionally get crashed. This is a sad but unavoidable fact. We’ve all seen a guy who got a little nuts with his car on the street and hit a tree or pole. One thing we’ve never seen is a legit chain reaction rear-end collision like the one in this video.

We feel awful for these guys, all four of them! The dude that came in on the end of this thing had to be trucking to cause all of the cars to smash into one another. Here’s hoping they all have good insurance!

We think that the driver’s estimate of the damage is a little steep.

The Dawn 2 Dusk 500 Challenge

By Rob Krider

Racerboy

Car Domain members looking for a place to race your ride where the Po-Po won’t mind? How about a very famous place, like Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca? Oh, you don’t have a racing license to compete there? That has already been resolved. The Dawn 2 Dusk 500 Challenge is a seven hour enduro at Laguna Seca and if you and a few friends have been to at least two High Performance Driving Education (HPDE) events and your car can pass tech inspection, you can compete in one of the seven classes (everything from ChumpCars, ALMS cars and even Hybrids). A full write up on the logistics of the event can be found at Speed:Sport:Life or by going to the Dawn 2 Dusk 500 Challenge website at www.d2d500.com. Photography by Jennifer Brotchie.

GTO Wagon on eBay

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

It actually began life as an ultra-rare Tempest wagon, but was later done up as a full-on GTO clone, with a Pontiac 400, Hurst shifter, exterior-mounted tach, and all the rest. A very cool longroof Poncho if you ask me! Check out the auction.
