Supercharged V6 Fiero

We’re not entirely sold on the aesthetics of the car–clearly the most remarkable thing about it is the engine compartment. Wow!

Anyone can throw an lsx, or lt1 in anything, anytime. I want someone to drop a Pontiac 400 in a fiero….

Oh and don’t judge the Formula Fiero by this car. Its pop-up headlights have been removed and those thin slice sealed beams were wedged in. Some people like that but it really takes away from the looks of the front of the car. I think a sleepy eye conversion, keeping the pop ups but making them open less using similar low profile halogens beneath would have looked much better – and at least the headlights would be able to cast light on the road surface… the way they are on this Fiero lets no light shine on the road.

The Fiero was originally designed to fit a V8, but GM’s management was paranoid about the Fiero being a performance car. As always, when a model has potential that isn’t relized by its manufacturer… people will intervene.

…and the Fiero had much more potential than anyone realized back in the 1980′s. There is no other car that compares to the Fiero, not even its nemesis… the MR2.

The fastback GT was drop dead gorgeous for the 1980s.

This is a common swap for Fieros actually. There are other more lucrative engine swaps out there too like V8 conversions, and even better you can buy kits to take most of the hard work and thought out of the process. With a kit it’s mostly a bolt on modification. Any GM V8 from 1969 to present will fit in a Fiero. You can even swap in a 6spd manual transmission from a newer Pontiac G6. You can literally change every aspect of these cars. #1 combo I’d like to see… an LS9 with the aforementioned 6spd and the ZR1′s brakes. Couple those performance features with a 3″ chop, a wide body kit, and a Ferrari F355 front fascia, and you’ll have a Fiero no one wants to mess with. Heck, even without all that fancy stuff and just a few affordable well planned mods to the Fiero GT’s stock setup, you could still end up with a car no one wants to mess with.
