Knowing how serious Viper owners and Corvette owners get when challenging each other to the title of Ultimate American Sports Car Ever, I probably shouldn’t step right into the middle of it by highlighting this Viper-bodied 1986 Corvette for sale on Hemmings.com. But I’m a sucker for punishment, so here it is. I can imagine the taunts from either side now: “The only way to make a Corvette look good is to rebody it as a Viper!” “The only way to make a Viper run good is to power it with a Corvette engine!” From the seller’s description:

This is a combination 1986 Corvette frame, engine and dash, combined with a 2000 Dodge Viper body. Thus, a VIPERVETTE. The engine is 5.7 liter with a 4 speed manual transmission. The exterior is all Viper and the interior, although color coded Dodge Viper red and black leather, it has Corvette seats and interior. Options on this car include P/S, P/B, P/W, Power Mirrors, Power Antenna, Power Seats, Tilt Wheel, Top Off Feature, Power Trunk and AM/FM stereo with CD changer mounted in the trunk.

To the untrained eye, it could ALMOST pass (Heavy emphasis on ALMOST) as a Viper, except for the fact that the front and rear tracks are WAY too narrow for this vehicle. The car literally looks fat, like it’s bulging on either side of the wheels. The builder/seller of this vehicle could have done alot better job with the marriage of the two vehicles, but instead has created a FrankenF!#K.

I’d rather have a C4 Vette with Viper power… Poor old C4s.

Yeah those vette wheels don’t cut it,they could have atleast sprung for some new ones, Also someone once made a viper kitcar based on the c4 vette, I don’t believe this is a REAL viper body.

Blecchhhhh, Stance is all wrong… Don’t get me wrong i love the old school Viper’s but, Put some proper mags on it that at least suit the body. That rear wheel just looks wrong and the front looks too small. What a waste of both vehicles.
