Veyron Fender Bender!
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Watch as this driver scrapes the curb and backs into another car. I wonder who has to foot the bill for this accident? Is it the dealership’s fault, or the driver? See more Bugatti Veyron abuse at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.
Hemmings Find Of The Day: 1966 Citroën 2CV Truckette
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
If indeed there are only 150 Truckettes like this 1966 Citroën 2CV Truckette in the United States, then I should count myself lucky: This is the third that I’ve seen in the last month, though the only one that I’ve seen recently in the Hemmings.com classifieds. From the seller’s description:
The Truckette was originally designed to be a commercial version of Citroen’s immensely popular 2CV. Perfect for the streets of urban France (especially Paris) where parking is tight, commercial vehicles are taxed by their size and larger vehicles are restricted from entering specific areas. During the late Fifties and throughout the Sixties and Seventies, the Truckette was the vehicle of choice of most butchers, bakers and candlestick makers throughout France. The Truckette also caught on with small families as the Truckette could be fitted with an extra rear seat and side windows. Very few, if any, Truckettes were imported by Citroen and almost all of the USA Truckettes currently in the USA were imported by Citroen enthusiasts! The Citroen Concours of America notes that there are only between 100 and 150 in the United States now!

Do You Have Your Cars’ Original Dealership Brochures?
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
I don’t collect them like a maniac or anything, but I do have one for each of my cars. It’s nice to have them on hand to remind yourself of what your ride looked like when it was brand new–especially if you’re trying to keep it that way. Just curious–do you have yours?

More on the SSC Ultimate Aero II
By Fireball Tim
Movie Car Design Master
A serious machine, the new SSC Ultimate Aero II is a Bugatti Veyron killer… for now. A 6.8-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 1,007kW of power! All of this power, when wrapped with the lightweight 1,179-kilogram body, will allow for a top speed of 443km/h. And this should be enough to get the job done. Course, if I knew how to calculate that into mph, that would be REALLY cool! Better be at The LA Auto Show…

Is The Chase All Locked Up?
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
This year’s Chase for the Sprint Cup has the somewhat underwhelming feeling of being over before it started. So many chasers got hosed at Sunday’s race at Auto Club–with Kyle Busch and Greg Biffle detonated, Carl Edwards knocked back with ignition problems, Kurt Busch wrecked and Jeff Gordon tagged with a pit-row speeding penalty–that a lot of people are saying that Jimmie Johnson all but has it in the bag. At this point, the reasoning goes, Jimmie would have to falter colossally to lose the Cup–he’d have to wreck or blow up and DNF. Still, I find the whole Drive For Five to be a kind of an uncompelling storyline–sure, it’s making history to win five Cups in a row, blah blah blah, but I just can’t feel it (you know?), and it seems to be something that’s more of a preoccupation of the pundits than the fans. The championship getting won by the same guy year after year seems boring, and if this year’s Chase really is all locked up for Johnson, I’ll probably stop paying attention to it pretty soon–it’s no fun if there’s no battle. But what about the guys who are still mathematically in the running–Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick, Jeff Gordon, and Tony Stewart–the last, an already two-time champion who is on the march and who scored a great win at Fontana last weekend? What do you think: do any of these guys have anything for Jimmie?

Japanese 370Z Build Part 1
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
This is one of my favorite aftermarket 370Z’s from Japan. This car is pure quality everywhere you look. If you notice closely you’ll see not only the blue accent ring around the BBS wheels but the fact that the faces of the wheels were modified in carbon fiber. Behind that you’ll see a really impressive brake conversion and refinishing that matches the blue accent theme. The side skirt features a one-off duct which I think looks really great on the car! The carbon fiber Varis hood is an already classic product and goes nicely with the custom carbon fiber headlights with ccfl rings. By the way we’ve also been producing custom modified headlights like this lately, so if anyone is looking for custom work like this just let me know and we can get it done.
Altered Wheelbase Freaks on the Streets
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Altered wheelbase cars are some of the most romanticized in drag racing history. They represent one of the earliest evolutionary stages of what we now know as Funny Cars, and for their short time in the sun, represented the pinnacle of doorslammer chassis technology. They quickly captured the hearts and minds of drag racing fans with their wheelstanding, guard wall to guard wall runs as well as because of the colorful men who drove them.
Many original examples were wadded up on the strip due to their mercurial handling attitudes as well as the fact that non-factory backed efforts were often built by guys under shade trees.
Like all other facets of nostalgia drag racing, these high-riding, non-handling, beasties are enjoying a resurgence today. We gathered up a collection of videos showing some awesome street legal examples in action! See the rest at BangShift.com
Driving the Chevrolet Volt
Bick66
Jen and I met Rob and Griot’s Garage in Tacoma Washington on Saturday morning as GM kicked off the Volt Unplugged tour–a 3400 mile cross-country road trip providing the American public its first chance to get hands-on with the Volt. Although the production Volt looks almost nothing like the concept, it was immediately clear that pictures do not do this car justice. The closer you get to the Volt, the more you realize that this car has a lot to offer. Follow the jump for more pictures and test drive review of GM’s first Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (EREV).
