Fireball’s Alphabet of Awesomeness… The D’s
By Fireball Tim
Movie Car Design Master
I like the letter “D.” Maybe it’s because it reminds me of math class? Or the conversation I had with my counselor about the fact that if I don’t stop showing up at high school football games with a liter or gin hidden in my coat, I’ll end up getting “all D.”
But hey. There are good D’s, too. Jokes about Dingleberries. Dumbasses who think they know about cars. Cities like Denver, Dookervortski and Dunjab. Even foods like Double Vanilla Latte… Dang.
And then… there’s cars. Our cars. Cool Car. Damn cool cars. Behold… The D’s.

Killer 1973 Checker Aerobus 8-Door Limo on eBay
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Over the last year or so, we’ve not only been introduced to the coolness that is an airport limo, we’ve also begun to really dig them. We got tipped off to this totally neato 1973 Checker model and we want to justify the purchase to our significant other. Anyone got any good reasoning in their back pocket?
This particular one needs brake work, but that should be no sweat. Checkers were known for lots of stuff but the high points were a lack of styling changes (we think they look awesome, who wouldn’t want to buy a 1950s look car in the 1970s?) and their near indestructible nature.
The reason that these cars became famous for being taxi cabs was not for their comfy interiors, it was because they would run for ages with minimal maintenance and upkeep. The company ran its own motors for a while but we’re close to 100% certain this car, being made in 1973, would be powered by a small block chevy.
You and 12 of your friends could roll in style with this car. We call shotgun! Thanks to BangShift.com member IRONHEAD for the tip! Check out the 1973 Checker Aerobus 8-door Limo on eBay!

Cherry Bomb Reveals The Disturbing The Peace Project 1968 Camaro
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Our pals at Cherry Bomb have announced that their next project will be a cool 1968 Camaro. Cherry Bomb ran an online poll for enthusiasts to decide what the company’s next project would be and the Camaro won out over a Mustang. In typical Cherry Bomb style, the car is going to be loud, fast, and pretty freakin’ slick lookin’. Make no mistake about it, this isn’t just an exhaust upgrade, these guys are doing the Camaro from soup to nuts.
The car will be built by YearOne and will have a fusion of different styling eras. The motor, an LSx-based plant, will be topped with an 8-71 BDS blower. That’s mechanical retro-futurism at work if we’ve ever seen it.
We look forward to keeping tabs on this project. We’re going to pester the dudes at Cherry Bomb to slip us build photos under the shop door as progress begins. Read the full release from Cherry Bomb after the jump!

Hemmings Find of the Day – 1985 Ford Sierra Cosworth
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
I’m tired of seeing those “future collectible cars” articles that go no further than the GMC Syclone and the Buick GNX. Let’s see those authors start to think beyond the no-duh future collectibles and focus more on the high-performance cars that we’re less likely to see at the local cruise-in, like this 1985 Ford Sierra Cosworth currently for sale on Hemmings.com. From the seller’s description:
Excellent competition body (with no sunroof), new black paint (not serious show quality but, to my eye, quite nice), all of the Cosworth body pieces and bumpers, louvered original Cosworth bonnet, correct whale tale, just rebuilt (under 1,000 miles since the work was completed…this engine was built to a high level using the best components available and professionally blueprinted) 2.0 liter Cosworth YB engine with steel crank and con rods, new Wiseco forged pistons (of a special design made for this car), sixteen valve twin cam, Group A head gasket, 42 pound injectors, 3 bar map sensor, Garrett turbo, Weber-Marelli fuel injection, 3” downpipe with custom fabricated stainless steel 3” exhaust (I am told it took the last owner a hundred hours or more of painstaking fabrication to create this masterpiece), new Cosworth RS500 aluminum intercooler (the size of a truck radiator), new Cosworth alloy radiator, probably around 350-375hp…maybe more (running at 24 to 28 psi boost) with the capability of up to 650 hp.
On the other hand, the point of the “future collectibles” articles is also to highlight cars that aren’t yet selling for the $25,000 asking price on this one. And cars that aren’t as rare as hen’s teeth. See more pics at Hemmings

Fireball’s Alphabet of Awesomeness… The C’s
By Fireball Tim
Movie Car Design Master
C…. Stands for cool. Or maybe crunchie. But seeing as how this is about cars, crunchie makes no sense whatsoever. Cool, eh? See how I just whipped that out?
Cars. Cartomobiles. Ooo. That’s a word. You ever wonder how car companies come up with their names? Like Continental? Corniche? Cordoba?
Wait. I’ve got one. … Cooltinental. And so… here are some Cooltinental C’s.
Name ‘em, and win a Million Doolareshlattens!!

Where are all the Mopars?
By Ron Honig
WaytooFurious
I really enjoyed myself at the Victorian Hot Rod Show on Sunday. There were a lot of cool cars to look as well as some great products on display with various vendors. However the one thing that really annoyed me about the day was the lack of Mopars on display. I realize that the organisers were pushing the Holden VS Ford theme this year and that traditionally, at least in my eyes, hot rodding has always been dominated by Ford and GM. I just think it would have been nice to have more representation from the Mopar side. That’s why I was particularly please to see this ’small’ blown Hemi dominating this ute. I mean really, if you are going to go all out you may as well chose a Hemi.

CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot: The Best of 2009
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Welcome to the CarDomain Obscure Muscle Car Parking Lot, a series where I describe what I consider to be a muscle car, and where you either agree or disagree with me. It has been a fun year last year, and in December I ran a series of posts in which I asked you, the reader, to select your favorites by decade. Well, it’s time to reveal the best, and to do a final vote. Think of it as the Superbowl of Obscurity.

Bugatti Pulled From Italian Lake Sells for $370K At Auction, Money Goes to Charity
By Brian Lohnes
BangShift.com
Back in early January, a news story came across the wires that an ultra rare Bugatti Type 22 roadster had been pulled off the bottom of an Italian lake. It had been submerged 70 some years ago when customs officials could not obtain the proper documentation on the car and had to destroy it. They chose to push it into a watery grave, and there it sat for seven decades. It was removed and sold at auction, netting $370,000!
The truly cool part is that the money from the sale is not going into the pocket of some treasure hunter, instead it is going to a charitable foundation founded in the memory of a young Italian racing driver who was attacked and died from his injuries. The car was located by a local diving club and they teamed up with the charity to haul the car out of the water.
The story we read on Yahoo! Cars said that the car needs to be 80% restored. We think they lowballed that number by about 20%. Either way, we’re sure that the buyer, who essentially paid for the honor to pay a bunch of money to bring the car back to life will do the machine proud and the next story we will see will show a gleaming Bugatti Type 22 roadster. Make Your Own Paper Super GT NSX
By Ben Schaffer
The Real JDM
Having been blown away by seeing this thing at Tokyo Auto Salon, I wanted to write another blog post related to it.
By now I think we all know how incredible the cardboard GT500 NSX project turned out. For those of you who saw it in person, it was especially amazing when placed next to other Super GT cars. From a distance it literally fooled me and had me thinking it was a real car that just looked “a little unusual”. For a fan at heart like me, I’d love to one day own a 1:1 cardboard replica like this! But for now, I’ll just dream of having enough space at home to be able to own something like this.
