Grand Theft Auto Class Action Settlement

After a couple of high-profile delays, Rock Star Games is set to release Grand Theft Auto IV on April 29—and gamers around the world are already salivating. But before their latest cash cow drops, it appears Rock Star is settling some old business. Remember the firestorm which erupted when hidden sexual content was discovered in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas? Well, a class action suit was filed on behalf of people who bought the game and were offended by it, and they won. Check out GTA Class Action Settlement website for all the details. As with a lot of class action suits, there’s a graduated scale which pegs how much cash you’re eligible for to how much you can actually prove you were harmed. The funny thing? Even if you don’t have proof, you can still get a cut. The head honchos at Rock Star are probably crying all the way to the bank.

I couldn’t have said it better myself, Paul. Unfortunately, in this day in age stupidity is frequently rewarded, and with cash…

That is obscene. I’ve beat the entire thing, and had fun doing it, and found nothing in the normal game to be any worse than an R rated movie. As far as the Hot Coffee mod, I still can’t believe that a third party mod has caused all this. I believe that the label clearly indicates what sort of content is included, and that if you bought it for yourself, you knew that, and if you purchased it for someone else, you are just stupid. There should be nothing paid out to the “offended”… since they obviously tried to hack the game to find it… you can’t accidentally stumble onto hot coffee.
