What Did You Do This Weekend?

Friday I picked up my car from Group 2 Motorsports just in time for a perfect sunny Saturday weekend. The guys installed some H&R Premium coilovers, slotted rotors front and rear from Powerslot, Goodridge stainless steel brake lines, a set of Ferodo pads in the front and Hawk in the rear. I also had then toss a B&M short shifter on the GTI as well. Most of the stuff was needed due to general maintenance requirements, but why go stock when you can upgrade? The coilovers ride better than I expected; not too harsh and the ride feels very secure and grounded. But the B&M shifter was by far my favorite addition in this round of upgrades. The OEM shifters found in my VW and previous years can be accurately compared to boat oars, requiring long strokes to move through the gears. The B&M is short and precise, and gives acceleration a renewed excitement. I spent the weekend tearing through various twisty roads all over the area testing out my new go-fast bits. But enough about us...

How about you, what'd you get up to this weekend?

I've done a modification to the door panels that I have never seen or heard of elsewhere, and I'd like for someone to leave a link in my Firebird guestbook, if they know of this mod being done by someone else.

A couple months ago, I two-toned the door panels, adding white leather. It looked good, but I also had another idea at the time that I dismissed. Eventually it was too much and when I found a local source of mirrored acrylic sheet with good pricing, that was all I needed.

The mirror door mod turned out to be everything I expected, and the reaction from everyone has been great.

I'm presently working on finishing instructions on how to do the mod, on page 3 of the ride page. Check it out! I did a new photo shoot this Sunday, there are all new pics and much of the outdated content removed.

I had a flat tire, so I spent my time and money getting that taken care of. I planned on changing to oil and getting some other routine stuff done to get the beast ready for spring cruising.

The weather was good, so I washed and waxed the Civic and then went for a cruise with my car club.
