Batmobile on eBay
By John Coyle
Editor
This Batmobile was used in Tim Burton's 1989 version of Batman, and the seller says it's five of five made for the film. The dimensions are kind of burly—20' feet long, 8' wide—and while the jet engine isn't functional, the car is equipped with a Chevy 350. Of course, it was never designed to be driven on the road, so there's no title, and the chances of getting this prop legal seem steep. But if you've got half a million dollars sitting around—and have fantasized about being the world's greatest detective—this could be a fun purchase. Hey, there are probably plenty of groups which would love to have this baby as part of a parade!. Check out the eBay auction for more details.

I can imagine what a stirr it would cause if i drive this car in my town....even more so than with my Mustang, which by the way is the ONLY Mustang in my town....this Batmobile looks like a heavily modified 70`s Stingray to me....

Yeah, too bad it was pulled. Think the deal was real, or a fabricated pander for a bunch of money?
Yes, the car is 8' wide at its rear quarter. It is 20' long, and it is powered by a 350. Not very much, but thats all it required to get it moving for the shoot. The chassis for the car and some of the mechanicals came from joined 1973 Chevrolet Impala wagons. I remember this from a car magazine article. I was thrilled because my first car was a 73 Impala wagon.
Now, how would you update this particular car mechanically to be more powerful, and street legal. (think street laws, and remember this car has no real functioning anything except motor, amber lights, and ...well that pretty much it...)

It's just as well that the auction is gone...
.
For any auction, correct information is key.
.
For something starting at a half million dollars,
it's especially important.
.
The Jack Nicholson / Nicklaus error is inexcusable.
.
Come on eBay seller, get SOMEONE to proof read your auctions!
.
What a Joke!
.
.
It doesn't surprise me a bit that he pulled it off eBay...

Hey, the auction's been removed. Now how am I supposed to squander that $1 million burning a hole in my pocket?
.
I know, I'll get a few Lamborghinis! That's definitely a waste of $1 million, since I'm sure they'll all catch on fire anyway.

Funny,
.
I don't remember a Batman film with Jack Nicklaus...
.
But, that's what the auction says.
.
Was there an evil golfing villain in the Batman universe???
.
.
Maybe Tiger Woods will be in the next Batman film???

If I owned this car, I'd drive it to the opening premiere of the next Batman movie, dressed up as Alfred with a Batgirl on each arm, cause you know, Alfred's the pimp.

That's Awesome. How cool would that be. I'm sure you could get temp insurance or something like that. How Cool!!!!
But, I agree the price is a bit, silly... Should be a good auction to watch. I'm sure if somebody from Dubai was watching they would snap it up.
For me hmmm Cool Movie car or pay my mortgage....
