Mopar Cop Cars

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Last weekend a bunch of cool old Mopar cop cars turned out at the National Police Parade in Newport, Rhode Island. Examples include a NYPD '88 Diplomat and a RISP '79 Newport owned by Phil Masso, a CTSP '74 Fury owned by Tom Weglarz, and a CHP '73 Polara owned by Tracy Claus. There was also a CHP '91 Crown Vic owned Steve Spaulding and Tracy Claus, and even a super cool 5.0 Mustang (I'd love to have one of those). You can see all of these cool cruisers after the jump. Thanks to Steve Spaulding for the pics!

Several of our local police departments and even the county sheriff took delivery of a few hemi chargers awhile back, so I've been alot more careful than usual lately. Our sheriff even has a 5.0 Mustang 5spd manual hatchback that's still in service, and no, it's not the DARE car.

There is a guy here in Upstate NY that has a full out restored CHP Polara that is un-real. He's packing a police package 440 and has the full gear inside. Radios, batons and even a shot gun made out of wood. I'll snag a pic of it If I see him again.

seems the chargers are popular, maybe more than crown vic interceptors anymore. Philly got a lot of 'em.
