Lambo to Launch Certified Pre-Owned Program

By John Coyle

Editor

Since even people with enough cash to purchase Italian stallions can be leery of wicked repair bills, Lambo's move toward a certified per-owned program seems smart. After all, if you're going to drop a few hundred grand on a ride, wouldn't it make you feel better to buy it from an authorized dealer? Sure, it might cost a little more, but like Ice-T says, true high rollers "buy their Gucci from Gucci's, not the swap meet." More info over at Brand Week. via AutoBlog

This Just In: New on the Net

By John Coyle

Editor

This morning, I hopped on my bike and discovered I had a flat. What a perfect way to start the week. Hopefully your day began better than mine. Anyway, here's the news:

  • The shots of fancy electronics being unboxed are pretty stand on the web. But this is easily the coolest of these sequences I've seen. God, is Lambo's Reventon sexy or what? Fresh Tarmac via Autoblog
  • Ian Taylor was pretty pissed when the meter maids booted a car parked in front of his house, so instead of paying to have it removed, he just cut the car in half. Makes sense to me. BBC via Jalopnik
  • Camp Car filed for bankruptcy back in March, and as part of the deal, the organization is auctioning off its assets. If you've ever wanted to pick up a pace car or racing memorabilia, this is a great opportunity. AutoWeek
  • Lamborghini has chosen Los Angeles to be the base of its North American operations. Given that the 1/3 of its US sales are made in the Golden State, this seems like a no-brainer. Winding Road

Eurospares: Purveyor of Junked Exotics

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Want something more exotic for your next project? Call Eurospares! (If you don't live in the UK, shipping will probably be a bit steep.) I've always wanted a blue, carbureted 308, so maybe this is my chance. I have a few more pics after the jump, but be sure to check out their full inventory. Via Jalopnik.

Does Lamborghini Need Commercials?

By John Coyle

Editor

While I've always assumed that Lamborghini's—like crack or illicit substances—sold themselves. But apparently, that didn't stop the company from commissioning this spot showing off the lines of its new Gallardo LP560/4. It's a little artsy, and I doubt that it'll ever be broadcast, but it's still entertaining. Enjoy. via CarScoop

Veilside Introduces New Company Premier4509 With Murcielago and Continental GT

By Ben Schaffer

Bulletproof Automotive

Veilside seems to be trying to step it up with this new brand. I do not think they had great success with their past attempts at Ferrari aero parts, Bentley aero parts and other exotics, but Yokomaku definitely has a thing for exotic cars and is working at it again. Unlike most Veilside releases I’ve seen lately I actually like these a bit. Not horrible, I’ll say that at least. Credit is much deserved for the confidence and dedication it takes to produce a production widebody for the Bentley. I hope they can recoup their investment on these. Although at the price they’re selling for, they have a good shot at it.

I really miss the good ol days when Veilside would impress me every time (I’m talking like mid-late 90s). Lately with the exception of these cars they’ve been all about high volume low cost, taking them from what was at one point the level of prestige that Top Secret has down to current comparison point of like a Chargespeed. I’ve been meaning to write an article about Veilside along these lines, and I will at some point. But for now, enjoy the exotic goodness of their new side project. More pics after the jump.

What Did You Do This Weekend?

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

On Sunday I dropped by a little car show on the University of Washington campus put on by Mirrorworks Detail along with the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity as part of the 1st Annual SPE Karts Car Show benefiting YouthAids (there were also a bunch of soap box derby cars build by the sororities). The coolest car there was the Ford GT done up in the limited-edition blue and orange Gulf color scheme, but there were a smattering of Lambos, Ferraris, Loti and Porsches, and one or two street rods. A ton more pics after the jump.

This Just In: New on the Net

By John Coyle

When I was reading over the headlines this morning, I was a little disappointed to see Toyota hasn't completely freaked out over former employee Jim Press' allegation that the Japanese government paid for development of the Prius. Come on guys, how about some good old fashioned name calling? Here's the news:

  • If you were searching for an expensive way to look like a complete tool, look no further—Lamborghini has just released a Bluetooth earpiece emblazoned with the company's famous charging bull. You know, it really says something when even a Lambo badge can't make a gadget look cool. Auto Express
  • How much longer can embattled FIA boss Max Mosley—AKA: Nazi orgy dude—last? He's said he won't resign his post, but it's only a matter of time before manufactures start calling for his head. After all, he's going to have to explain his behavior to Mercedes and BMW. AutoWeek
  • When I read that a Ferrari F50 had been involved in an accident in Sweden, I assumed the worst. But it looks like the car just spun off the road, and escaped any serious body damage. While that's got to be embarrassing for the owner, at least the car isn't totaled. CarScoop
  • In the last six years, the price of parking tickets in the UK has gone up an incredible 500%. Has England declared war on the car? Winding Road

Jenna Jameson's Lambo on eBay

By John Coyle

Editor

Jenna Jameson has been called the world's most famous porn star, and as everyone knows, there's a lot of money in porn. Hell, it's one of the reasons the internet exists. And while you might not agree with the way she earns a living, it's pretty hard to argue with her taste in cars. Just check out the sweet 2002 Lamborghini Murcielago she's selling! Unlike most of the examples out there, it actually has a proper manual tranny—instead of paddle shifters—which in my opinion, is a lot cooler. The bidding is currently just north of $180,000, which seems about right for this wicked ride. Think it'll fetch more than a standard Murci?

New Gallardo-Based Pantera?

By John Coyle

Editor

German designer Stefan Schulze has come up with a concept for a modern Pantera, and while it looks hot, the idea that the car would utilize Gallardo running gear leaves me cold. One of the sweetest things about the original cars was that they were powered by Ford's burly and easy-to-service 351 Cleveland, so  remaking the marque as a Lambo appearance package seems a little weak. via Autoblog

1973 Lamborghini Jarama GTS

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Here's another great photo shoot by Patrick Ernzen of Desert-Motors.com. This is a two owner 1973 Lamborghini Jarama GTS with just 5,975 miles on the clock. It is finished in Arancio exterior with Nero leather interior. Options include power steering and factory am/fm cassette mounted in the headliner area between the sun visors. Apparently there are fewer than 30 Jaramas in the US, and of the 327 Jaramas sold worldwide, only 150 were the GTS model. Full specs on the GTS here. More photos after the jump, or go to Desert-Motors.com for the complete gallery.

Raptor Disembowels Lambo on CarDomain

By Rob Einaudi

Ok, so this one wasn't even close. The Saleen won by a 2-to-1 margin. Lambos haven't been doing too well in our Showroom Showdown. The last Lambo got smoked by a Ferrari. Oh well, maybe next time...

Saleen Raptor vs. Lamborghini LP560-4: Which Would You Choose?

By Rob

Editor-in-Chief

The two coolest mid-engine exotics at the New York Auto Show last week were the Saleen Raptor and the Lamborghini LP560-4. The Saleen's supercharged 5.0 produces 650 hp, while the Lambo's 5.2 liter V10 makes a measly 560 hp. Saleen has not yet committed to building the Raptor, but if they did, which would you choose?

Sneak Peak at Batman's Lambo

By John Coyle

Editor

Batman Begins was one of my favorite movies of 2005, and I'm super pumped about the Dark Knight. Just look how awesome Heath Ledger—rest in peace—looks as the Joker! While no actual photos of Batman's new Lambo have surfaced yet, the toy has been released, and it seems pretty sick. The car appears to be a wildly modded Murcielago, and should look awesome on the big screen. Check out the video below for more info.

This Just In: New on the Net

By John Coyle

I guess I've just been asleep at the wheel—or not watching enough TV—but I had no idea one of my favorite songwriters is doing music for Volvo. Stephin Merritt is the uber-genius behind the Magnetic Fields, and he sings an interpretation of "Wheels on the Bus" in this ad for the XC. While there are plenty of idiots out there howling about how terrible this is, personally, I like it when musicians make money. Here's the news:

  • Due to mounting debts, the Pininfarina family could lose control of the design house which bears their name. Now, I acknowledge that even really rich people can go broke, but I still can't say I understand it. Any way you cut it, this is sad. World Car Fans
  • The credit crunch happening across the country is starting to have an effect on classic car prices. Of course, whether this is tragic or great depends on whether you want to buy or sell. Winding Road
  • A fire at a Chrysler plant in Ontario has temporarily stopped production. Ok, first a fire at Porsche, and now this? Wow. It's only a matter of time before the Ferrari and Lambo factories go off like Roman candles. Automotive News
  • The American Family Association has ended its boycott of Ford. But don't worry, I'm sure the group will find another way to promote its agenda of intolerance and bigotry. Detroit News
