The Hemi Challenger resto from 2Fast 2Furious is on eBay right now—sitting at a cool 60k—and the reserve hasn't even been met. With all the hype about Fast and the Furious 4, I'm surprised this car is coming out of the shadows so soon. This isn't one of the clone shell cars either. It was intended for interior shots, it's packing the real deal—"NEW 426 HEMI WITH A NEW HEAVY DUTY 727 HURST AUTOMATIC TRANSMISION AND A NEW DANA 355 POSI HEMI REAR END"—and only has 100 miles on the clock. So what it's worth? I'm sure the fact that it's non-numbers matching hurts the value, but on the other hand, it's a movie car that's linked to the main characters and the finale of the flick. Those factors make me think this baby will fetch a price somewhere in the low 100,000's. Do I think its worth that? Well, no. But it's most likely what someone is gonna pay for it. What do you think its worth?

Some of you have heard the rumors already. Universal Studios had asked us to build them twin S2000 feature cars. The Honda S2000s will be used in a racing scene along with a few other feature cars for the opening sequence of Fast and The Furious 4. Currently the two cars are already completed and have started filming. It is a long and interesting story, some of which I can say now and some of which I cant. Here is part 1:
I was a consultant on The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift for a short period of time. During that time at one point I was asked to design/build the majority of the cars for FF3 (they even asked me to have Top Secret build them a full built GT-R engine for the Mustang). I was given the car list and I started to plan some pretty serious cars. Shortly after the planning stage everything started falling apart and I left the project because their direction and my own did not mesh. I had big hopes to bring some of the hardcore Japanese functional design to the movie but ultimately the movie’s decisions were made for reasons other than purely the art form of building the best cars possible. The only tangible thing that materialized from my time with them was the article I wrote for Modified Magazine offering the world exclusive on the GT-R powered Mustang and an inside peak on the development of the movie. While it lacks the in-your-face street-racing action of the spy video we showed you on Tuesday, this set footage from Hollywood spy site X17video gives some interesting clues about what's going on in the new Fast and Furious film. Paul Walker and Vin Diesel hop out of their rides and act like they're gonna throw some hands. The Skyline gets a thorough dousing with a smoke machine at around 2:30, and the Chevelle appears to have sustained some body damage. We're wondering if Brian still owes Dom a ten-second car.

Somebody's been leaking spy footage from the set of the new Fast and Furious movie, and it's found its way onto CarDomain video. The series of takes appears to depict a race between four of the cars that'll be playing major roles in the film, including that wheel-standing Chevelle. Can't wait to see what this dramatic start will look like on the big screen!

Today I'm headed to LA to check out the set of Fast and Furious (yep, that's now the fourth installment's working title). Unfortunately I'm going to be forbidden from saying anything about the visit until the embargo is lifted, but while I'm on set I'll totally be looking out for the numerous CarDomain member rides that have been cast to appear in the film—like haddytech's awesome Kia Spectra! Be sure to let me know in the comments if you or your ride will be there as well.

The latest word is that the newest FF installment will be simply called Fast and Furious—filmmakers apparently decided that fans could handle neither complex numerology nor the repetition of the word "the." The film is slated for release on June 5th, 2009, and as for content, the plot summary released by Universal corroborates certain previously leaked details, but doesn't tell us a lot we don't already know. Quoted in Cinematical, this is the extent of it:
"When a crime brings them back to L.A., fugitive ex-con Dom Toretto (Diesel) reignites his feud with agent Brian O'Conner (Walker). But as they are forced to confront a shared enemy, Dom and Brian must give in to an uncertain new trust if they hope to outmanuever him."
The most comprehensive plot summary online is the still the unofficial one on Latino Review, and even it only covers the film's initial setup. Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordanna Brewster, and Michelle Rodriguez are all returning, though Letty (Rodriguez) gets killed off early by drug dealers (hence the funeral scene a CarDomain member supplied to you previously), catalyzing the action by forcing Diesel and Walker's characters to collaborate to avenge her death. Even Tokyo Drift's Han, who's supposed to be dead, will be making an appearance, suggesting that Fast and Furious is to be a prequel to Tokyo Drift (and accounting for Diesel's otherwise inexplicable appearance at the end of the last film).
But enough of all that—we all know that plot is hardly the point of these films anyway. Here's some more pics of cars on the set of the film, via VWVortex—including some closeups of the studio-owned E36 that another member filmed spinning donuts, before it crashed into a bunch of the other cars.

This year, a group of Pontiac Solstice owners got together to form Team Solstice 2008, and they've already been drawing crowds at some of the biggest-name shows in the industry: members have had their rides featured at SEMA, as well as Nopi, HIN, and DUB shows around the nation. The Solstice is a ride that has tended to get dismissed automatically by those who don't know any better; the car (and its twin, the Saturn Sky) is admittedly underwhelming in its factory form, and even the turbo version failed to raise more than a few eyebrows when it hit the market. But the Team Solstice crew take performance on these rides a whole 'nother level, modding the crap out of the little Ecotech powerplants to the point where most of them are running 300-400 hp at the wheel. CarDomain member Madmods enjoys the light weight and good handling of the Solstice, but admits that it's easy to stuff in too much power for the car to handle. David Gilbert of Performance Autowerks personally flew down to tune the motor on Madmods' yellow Solstice at Vividracing's dyno, and now the car accelerates so violently that chassis flex threatens to be a problem. Fabricating a brace, courtesy of Randy at DDM, helped to contain all of that extra power.

The first casualty of The Fast and the Furious 4 turned out to be this sick Honda S2000, which somehow managed to get on the bad side of the character once famously accused of having "a gas tank for a brain." The car's owner, Ben over at Bespoke Ventures, probably under a gag order from Universal, doesn't explain the circumstances under which "Vin got a little more into character than we all expected," but the vehicle's hood, fender, and headlight clearly bore the brunt of it. Those custom graphics are going to be tough to match, but Ben's being a good sport about the whole thing: he's already selling a "Vin Diesel Broke My Car" T-shirt on cafepress. Careful, Ben: I don't know if you wanna taunt the dude who once beat a guy half to death with a 3/4" torque wrench.

As if Hyundai hasn't been kicking up enough of a buzz around its Genesis Coupe reveal at the New York International Auto Show, "sources" at the company have confided to Edmunds that a red turbocharged 4-cylinder will be making a high-profile cameo in the new Fast and the Furious film. If the Coupe gets put through its paces in the film anywhere near as skillfully as Hyundai's professional drivers did in CarDomain's video of the NYIAS reveal, we say, bring it!

Another CarDomain member whose ride was cast in The Fast and The Furious 4 took part in filming over the weekend and, at great personal risk, snapped these awesome stealth pics. They were filming a nightclub scene, and these were some of the rides lined up in the parking lot. Our contact also managed to shoot a couple of brief cell-phone videos showing some serious donut-spinning—I wonder if that'll make it into the movie. Thanks, man!

Darkblade06 over at VWVortex staked out the FF4 set on Friday, and has posted a bunch of photos from the 9th day of filming. Most of them are pretty blurry (it was a night scene), but they do give you an idea of what cars are going to look like in the film. There's an STI that'll presumably be the one Paul Walker's character will drive, though it's got a different color scheme than the one Rob blogged last month. Dominic Toretto will be driving a Chevelle this time around, though a Charger will also be getting some screen time (the script has Dom's original ride being "rebuilt" after the first film's climactic barrel roll—yeah right!). Go below the jump to see more shots, and check out the backstory at VWVortex.

CarDomain member Freesol, who managed to get both his custom Solstice and his son into The Fast and the Furious 4 after hearing about the casting call right here in the blog, has passed along this video footage filmed at the set. You get some nice views of a lot of the cars, including the Solstice, that are involved in the opening funeral scene—watch for them taking off as they leave the set! At the website hosting this video, you'll also see some stills from the set of Vin Diesel hanging around, and Paul Walker looking especially spiffy, but nothing more on the cars. Enjoy!
Editor's note: Mozilla Firefox users, try this version of the video. The original sometimes won't play unless you're running Explorer.
CarDomain member Freesol has gotten his Solstice GXP into the new Fast and the Furious movie! He attended the casting event a couple of weekends ago, and has been told his car will be used in the opening scenes that set the tone for the film. This 2008 Solstice has had a lot of adventures in its short life—it was also featured at the 2007 SEMA show!
Anyone else getting their car featured in the film? Post a link to your ride page!
