Hitting Parked Cars is Lame
By Rob Einaudi

But this is fairly impressive. The driver was reaching for her lunch as she neared home and was unsure how she did this. Via the Herald Sun. Thanks for the tip Ron!

Ouch!
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I’ve seen this ‘66 Satellite running around Fremont for the last year or two, and it’s the only other one I’ve ever seen in Seattle. Looks like he just got in a nasty liitle wreck (still has drums up front…). Wonder what his plans are at this point. I left him a note on his windshield, so we’ll see. But it’s already been marked by the cops. More pics after the jump.

Bullrun Co-Founder David Green Crashes During Seat Championship
By John Coyle
Editor
After the 2008 Bullrun was complete and the reality show had been shot, rally co-founder David Green raced in the Seat Cupra Championship over in the UK. But during a race at Brands Hatch, he had a pretty nasty wreck, where he chipped his teeth and got knocked unconscious. Yikes. This clip does a great job of showing just how violent it was—check out how much his body moves during the multiple impacts. Glad to hear you’re OK David! Hopefully I’ll see you on the rally this year!
Unlucky Car Gets Nailed by Giant Spool of Cable
By John Coyle
Editor
There are so many awesome things about this video. First, there’s the obviously doomed nature of the whole endeavor. There’s also the happy spool of cable crashing through the glass without so much as a wobble, the stunned workman who’s apparently knocked down by the sound, the seemingly unflappable dude on the cell phone—who has no visible reaction to being nearly killed by a runaway spool of cable—and finally, there’s the forlorn sound of the car alarm in the parking lot, which lets us know that this unfortunate incident has reached its conclusion. Enjoy.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe Crashed in Korea
By John Coyle
Editor
The Genesis Coupe hasn’t reached the States yet, but one of Hyundai’s RWD sports cars has already died on its native soil. Apparently, it rounded a corner and then proceeded to slam into a concrete post. The results, as you can see, weren’t pretty, and the driver and passenger were critically injured. A Korean source has reported that the car was sporting "temporary tags" and given the fact that the airbags didn’t deploy, our buddies at Jalopnik have speculated that it was actually wearing manufacturer plates, and that this isn’t a consumer car, but rather a Hyundai tester. Makes sense to me. More pics of the carnage after the jump.

Given how much I ask it to do, my trusty little IBM ThinkPad—running Windows XP—is pretty stable. But obviously, its maddening idiosyncrasies occasionally reduce me to a seething, profanity-spewing toddler who just wants to go kick holes in something. So I found the Matrix Runs on Windows pretty funny. Anyway, here’s the news:
- Talk about irony. Shannon Nicole Adkins’ senior project was a study how dangerous the roads of her rural county were for young drivers. She died Monday after being struck head-on by a drunk driver who crossed the center line. Damn, that’s sad. MSNBC
- Apparently, the recent drop in gas prices is still translating into increased sales of SUVs. And while I know this isn’t the first time I’ve talked about this ridiculous phenomenon, I feel like I have to keep mentioning it. Seriously America, maybe it’s time to start thinking further ahead than lunch? ABC Charlotte
- Looks like the next gen Scion TC is going to be RWD. The car itself will be the product of the long-awaited Toyota/Subaru partnership, and I can’t wait to get a look at one in the flesh. Which company’s do you think will look hotter? My money is on Toyota. CarScoop
- When I walked into the office on this morning, my credentials for the LA Auto Show were sitting on my desk. Now, it’s not clear which member of editorial team is going, but I can tell you that the General won’t be hosting any press conferences. Yikes. Freep

Tesla Spotted In Junkyard Following Catastrophic Wreck
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
It turns out there might be a reason Telsa isn’t at the SEMA show this year: they’re too busy showing off. A Tesla sales director wrecked this roadster after punching it to 100 mph, then taking a corner too hard. It was pretty bad—the passenger was ejected—but everyone except the Tesla itself seems to have survived the incident. See the whole grisly mess over at WreckedExotics.com.

Jubilant Phillies Fans Flip Car, Owner Wants Help Fixing It
By John Coyle
Editor
I was born in Philadelphia, and I remember my parents letting me stay up late to watch the Phillies win the World Series 28 years ago, so I was stoked to see them win again yesterday. But you know how pumped up fans can get out of control. After the game, a bunch of jubilant Philly fanatics swarmed into the street and overturned an innocent car, and unfortunately, its owner doesn’t have the money to fix it. Since his insurance won’t cover the damage he’s set up a blog and PayPal account to help him get a new ride. Head over to Philly Fix My Car for all the sordid details.

Speeding Biker Nearly Nails Van, Crashes in Dirt
By John Coyle
Editor
The giant cloud of dust he kicks up makes it impossible to tell exactly how this biker fared, but he’s lucky he didn’t straight-up nail this van, or the car parked just past it. If the guy was wearing the right gear—he’s going a little too quick to tell—I think there’s a decent chance he walked away unscathed. Of course, if the genius rides like this regularly, there’s a pretty good chance he’s already dead.
Ferrari 360 Wrapped Around a Pole in Australia
By John Coyle
Editor
It’s been a bad week to be an Italian supercar. Earlier today, Rob posted about the Gallardo just bisected via tree down in the Lone Star State, and I just stumbled across these shots of a Ferrari 360 doing a pole dance in the Land Down Under. Details come from local single-name-like-Madonna resident Vlado, who reported the car "sounded just like ‘zing, zing,’ as it want past," and that "the Stobie [telephone pole] split the car in two and it’s basically up where the gear stick should be." The driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital with unspecified injuries. More details on the wreck available at Adelaide Now. Four more pics after the jump.

Lambo Wrecks and Breaks in Half in Fort Worth, Texas
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Pretty nasty wreck in Texas this weekend. Apparently the driver of this Gallardo lost control in the rain and slammed into a tree. Half the car continued some ways down the street. Somehow, no one was killed, though someone lost a foot. Two more pics after the jump, and you can see the rest over at Jalopnik.

Two Fire Trucks Collide. What are the Odds?
By John Coyle
Editor
Even though it looks like they’re going in different directions, both of these trucks were responding to the same fire. And while it would obviously be tough to hear a siren if your own siren was blaring, you know somebody is going to get their ass handed to them. For more on this crash and the resulting carnage, check out this report from the St. Louis CBS affiliate.

This Just In: New on the Net

Californians have always thought about the future, and this November, citizens will vote on whether to spend some—ok, a lot of money—on developing a bullet train that will travel between Los Angeles and San Fransisco. The trip would take about 2.5 hours, which seems reasonable for a $55 dollar fare. Please California? Please? Anyway, here’s the news:
- After 166 days, reckless lead-foot Nick Hogan has been released from jail. Apparently, he returned home to a "thumping" party, and I’m sure he’s relieved to be out of the clink. Meanwhile, the friend he injured during the crash that sent him to jail is still a vegetable. Maybe I should have written a whole blog on this, but even I’m sick of this story. TMZ
- Is there a show that’s the opposite of America’s Dumbest Criminals? Maybe something like America’s Most Lovable Outlaws? Because if there is, I’d like to nominate the Utah crook who escaped the cops in a modified golf cart. MSNBC
- Personally, I think car sharing is a pretty cool idea, and I think smart is being pretty "smart"—sorry, had to do it—by launching its own program. While it’s currently testing in Germany, a stateside version would probably attract customers who just want to get behind the wheel of the micro-machine. Motor Authority
- While the industry has been buzzing about a possible merger between GM and Chrysler, it’s not like nothing’s happening over at the Blue Oval. Kirk Kerkorian—Ford’s largest private investor—has just dumped a bunch of the company’s stock. And he might not be done yet. Freep
