Ford Focus RS vs. Dodge Caliber SRT-4

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

Even though Dodge’s SRT-4 Caliber was discontinued, it still remains a potent competitor for the hatchback class. Racing against Ford’s five cylinder power house, it’s surprising to see what the Dodge can do. Sporting a refrigerator and turbo, you simply can’t go wrong with the Dodge. Read more about the race at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

M3 GT-R!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

I can already hear the moaning of BMW purists, but DBM Engineering’s swap has everything to do with power and nothing to do with making Germans drop their pretzels and tankards of beer. Apparently, the Skyline motor can be built to reliably make 600HP, which is 200 more than the BMW!

Saaboat on eBay

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

I think I finally found the perfect car for Seattle. From the eBay auction:

This is a SAAB Convertible stock body and interior, converted with Handcrafted fine engineering to a V-Bottom with Pontoons on the side for stabilization to a Boat Car. The Car-Boat still has a stock Saab steering wheel in the car that does operate the steering on a 70 hp Mercury Outboard engine. It does come fully equipped with Electric Start, Navigational Lights both front and Rear, Horn, Fire Extinguisher, Radio, 2 Way Radio, Fish Finder, Anchor & Anchor Line, Life Preservers & all coast guard approved equipment.

See all the pics on eBay!

May have had something to do with the fact that he got WHAM, BAM THANKYOU MA’AM’D from the rear. I figure it’s about $50K work of work. Maybe I shoulda left my card?

The Dale Brochure in Full

By Dan Strohl

Hemmings

Thanks to Kevin Gibbs, I recently got to pen one of the most interesting stories I’ve written lately. Certainly the strangest. See, Kevin wrote in asking us whether we’d heard of a fiberglass three-wheeled car from 1974-1975 called the Dale – he keeps a scrapbook of such oddities, but had yet to collect photos of one for his scrapbook.

We not only found photos for him, but also a long and sordid story involving scams, men on the run from the feds, and a transsexual. You can read the whole story in the March 2010 issue of Hemmings Motor News, out on newsstands now, but in the meantime, thanks to our friend Geoff Hacker, we have a set of scans from the original Dale brochure.
