We’re lucky enough to spend lots of time at cool events either shooting video or photos of neat cars. During the 2009 Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion, we saw a D/Modified Production 1969 Camaro called the Granny Goose II and immediately fell in love. Unfortunately for us, we were so busy we were not able to hunt down the car owners for information on this awesome machine. We didn’t make the same mistake in 2010.

Modified Production was an NHRA class that appeared in 1964 and was killed off in 1981. Along the way, racers used multitudes of combinations in several different classes. While the A and B/MP cars got lots of recognition because of their ability to throw big numbers up on the score boards, it is cars like the Granny Goose II which ran in the lower classes that people remember so fondly. Why? You listen to the 331ci small block spin to about ten grand on the starting line and tell us.

This particular car was restored to the condition you see it in now just after the turn of the millenium. It was destined to live it’s life as a show car until it was seen by current owner James Payne in 2005. He managed to buy the car and despite please from the former owner to leave it as a show car, Payne did the right thing and prepped it for the track. We’re very glad that he did because it would be wrong to have this awesome piece of history used only for power parking at car shows. Continue reading at BangShift.com

This is a 1969 Danz Camaro SS concept car. I built the car in 2006. In 2006 the new Camaro was just a concept with no definite plans to go to production. I took a real 1969 Camaro and modified it to look some what like the 2006 concept Camaro. Thinking that I would have the only one in the world if the Camaro never went to production. I combined the original 69 Camaro design with the 2006 concept Camaro design, with my own designs. Especially the hood scoop and rear spoiler design are my own. I gave GM pictures of my car in Jan 2007. It appears that the 2010 SLP Camaro has a simular designed hood scoop and rear spoiler to my car. To power my car I went with a 427 small block with the vintage dual 4-barrel crossram manifold and carbs. I went in that direction because I wanted the legendary 427 cubic inch and also to use the vintage dual 4-barrel crossram. Backed with a 700 r transmission to a Ford 9″ differential. If you’re interested in learning more, call 920-830-4994.
