Boosted Mopar

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

This Dodge Shelby Charger was stolen shortly after the original owner purchased the car back in 1985, and then it sat on a police impound lot for nine years. Troy’s uncle bought  in 1996 with just 2,000 miles on the clock and then sold it to Troy last year. Check out Troy’s ride page for more on this cool ride!

1985 Omni GLH on Craigslist

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

The 1985 Dodge Omni GLH Turbo was a neat little car that managed to trade blows with the European offerings of the day and with a little work, could shame the overweight and underpowered pony cars of the mid-’80s.

The GLH could be had in turbo and non-turbo versions. This one is a rarer turbo model and came equipped with a 146hp 2.2L four banger. It made 170 ft/lbs of torque at 3,600 RPM and was matched with a five-speed transmission. 6,500 of the cars were made, and it is not known how many were turbocharged and how many were naturally aspirated.

This particular car appears to be in decent shape with respect to the body but the motor is ill and needs to be pulled apart due to a lack of compression. Sounds like a perfect excuse to build an anvil of an engine and hit the drags.

This thing is packed with “HAM (amateur) radios, police scanners, visual units (to send still pictures over the air) and other assorted doo-dads!” Check out Scott’s 1985 Plymouth Colt ride page for more details and tons of pics!

1985 IROC Z28 With Four Miles on eBay

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

This IROC is missing the original wheels, it’s dusty as hell and rodents have done some damage under the hood. But it’s got just four miles on the odometer, the seats are covered in the factory plastic, and the front air dam is still in its sealed plastic wrapper along with the mounting hardware! The auction ends today and bidding is already well over $20k. Will it make the reserve? And what’s this thing really worth? eBay via Autoblog

CarDomainTV: Kelly American Challenge Buicks

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Here’s the talk I had with Rick about the Kelly American Challenge Buicks they were running in the Grassroots Motorsports Ultimate Track Car Challenge back in June. These were some of the bigger cars in the event, but they did quite well, placing 3rd and 4th in Shop Varsity. Not bad for a pair of vintage race cars! Be sure to check out owner Shaun Coleman’s ride pages for more info on these cool cars.

El Cutlass or Camino Supreme?

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Check out Mike’s awesome project, which is the result of mixing an El Camino with a Cutlass Supreme. I love the "open disclaimer" on his ride page:

You might be thinking "That’s just wrecking the El Camino" (Or Cutlass for that matter.) Neither is exactly true. The El Camino needed a complete restoration due to being a daily driver for numerous salty southern Ontario winters. I’m restoring it, but I’m choosing to use Oldsmobile parts. The Cutlass was scrapped because it needs a Y pipe, brake lines, and some heavy duty patching to the trunk and rear frame area. I need the front end and interior which are both in good shape, so it works out well.

The car is currently getting some stuff done at the body shop, and Mike is promising more photos soon. I can’t wait to see the finished result!

Shark Fin Porsche 944 in 24 Hours of LeMons

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

This video documents the efforts of team Driving While Awesome at the 24 Hours of LeMons race at Altamont back in October, 2007. If you watch closely, you’ll see the Team Size Matters Fury several times throughout the video (the big Mopar placed 23rd in that appearance). The shark fin Porsche managed 44th place and it looks like they had a lot of fun.
