Just a Slight Clunk Says Mom!
Neuwerks
I am at a loss for words. My mom, who is actually quite mechanically minded for the most part, called to tell me her 94 Jetta was making a slight clunk sound when turning at low speed, and that it also had a strange front end bounce. I took a quick test drive, and noted what felt like a bad strut, and seized strut tower bearings. Little did I know that we had a slightly bigger problem!!

Batmobile on Craigslist
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ok, obviously it’s not the real Batmobile–it’s someone’s rough interpretation of the Batmobile, based on a wrecked 1994 Pontiac Grand Am. Price seems a bit steep at $600, but I’m guessing that he’s willing to entertain offers. Build pics and the text from the Ann Arbor Craigslist ad after the jump. Via Jalopnik

Beaters, the Next Generation: 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
I had sworn I wouldn’t repeat the mistake I made – on two different occasions – by passing up the five-speed Astros I saw in the local classifieds. I mean, c’mon, you don’t see those every day. So when it came time to replace the GMC, I wanted something unique and utilitarian. Since I spent so much time messing with the stroker in the HMX, I was leaning toward another Jeep 4.0L-powered vehicle.
I had never been much of a fan of the ZJ Grand Cherokee (though I’d not toss a 5.9 Limited out of bed for eating crackers), but I was surprised at how low prices for them had become. And then this one showed up on my radar: a ‘94 Laredo with the 4.0L and a five-speed manual transmission. The brakes were grinding bad and the body looked like it went 10 rounds with Buster Douglas, but it was all there, and the seller accepted my offer of $900. Continue reading at Hemmings

This is one of those projects that is hard to fathom. For a better understanding, check out the reams of documentation in this thread at team-integra.net. Or just watch this video of Dave Dunn’s RWD Integra doing donuts.

Alpine's Demo Vehicles Make Waves!
By Sean
Editor
Every year, Alpine builds a breathtaking demo vehicle. Past projects like the Sinister 6, the chop-top Mini Cooper, and last year’s Imprint RLS, were all wicked, but this year they went completely crazy. To promote their new marine line, Alpine built both a custom ski boat and a tow vehicle. The boat started life as an worn out 25-foot 1994 Commander V-bottom, but after 4000 hours of work it’s been completely transformed. The guys at Alpine shaved and molded the factory lines, straightened the fiberglass hull, resculpted the intakes and completely reshaped the interior.
For details about the tow vehicle, more photos, and a video walk-around of this insane boat, head over to the SoundDomain Blog!

1994 Mercedes E500 on eBay
By Rob

Talk about a sleeper! The only thing that gives these cars away are the very subtle fenders flares. This joint venture between Porsche and Mercedes resulted in one of the toughest Autobahn cruisers of the early 90s, with a self-leveling hydraulic suspension and a five liter V8 producing 326 hp. Only 1,505 examples made it to the US between 1992 and 1994, and a very nice example just popped up on eBay. If I had the money or available garage space I would be bidding on this bad boy.

What Do You Guys Think Of This Shift Boot?
By Rob

I think it’s pretty hilarious… You can see it along with the pink wheels and various odd decals on E. Jeezy’s 94 Civic.
