A Weekend at Mid-Ohio

By Austin Knight

Gotadime

From June 19-21, I covered the entire set of events at the Mid-Ohio Race Course and it was an absolute blast. I’ve attended the Rolex Series’ EMCO Gears Challenge since 2006, but this time I did something different. I got together with some friends and we stayed in an RV that was parked on the course! You would fall asleep to the silent, calming sound of an empty, peaceful track and wake up to the sound of racers taking the course at 200 MPH. It was relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. For someone as into racing as I am, the entire experience was a glimpse of heaven. View the full released gallery and read more after the jump.

Power Tour Day 3: Shop Day

By Chris Allen

Motorfanatics

Today started out where no Power Tour participant wants to be…the shop. As I had mentioned yesterday, when we arrived in Racine we noticed that the alignment on the Pacer was WAY off. Could have been the hammering at the drag strip, but somehow a few of the adjustment cams in the front suspension slipped and the front tires looked like they were ready to fold over. We woke up early and busted out the Yellow Pages and made a call to the guys at Alignment By Klamm in Racine, WI.

Power Tour Day Two: Gettin' Rollin'

By Chris Allen

Motorfanatics

We woke up today to even more rain. Great. Cold and rainy, we made our way to Alliant Energy Center and as I mentioned yesterday, the weather did not deter ANYONE from making it out. Once the rain let up, we walked around and checked out some of the other participants including a gorgeous Buick Riviera, a dialed in Cuda, and ANOTHER Pacer. That makes three friggen Pacer’s on the Power Tour…but ours became the first to drag race today!

Bimmerfest 2009

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

While we at Speedhunters were busy preparing for the VAG month the event called Bimmerfest took place in Santa Barbara on the 2nd of may. Thanks to Mike Burroughs we can enjoy some of the photo’s he took during this event. I am told that this is one of the biggest gathering in the USA for BMW enthusiast and judging by the pictures the level of cars is pretty high. I love the color and the stance on this E21 3-series, with the wheels color coded in the chassis color. Continue reading at Speedhunters

Gullwing-America just announced plans to build this beautiful modern day 300 SL Panamerica. The body is comprised of fiberglass-reinforced aluminum over a steel chassis, and power comes from a 370 hp supercharged 5.5 liter Mercedes V8. Sounds pretty good to me. It's Quick, Expensive, and Made of Plastic

By Mike Musto

The title of this blog should pretty much sum up Dodge’s Caliber SRT-4. I’ve been driving this little bugger for 4 days now and although it’s not a bad car, it’s not overly wonderful either. The SRT-4 is Dodge’s answer to cars like the Honda Civic Si, Mitsubishi Lancer, and Subaru WRX. A domestic import of sorts, the SRT-4 is the kind of car you may buy when you’re in your early 20′s, as this is the image that the car projects. Is the car quick? Yes, it actually is–with 285hp under the lid, 0-60 in about 6.3 seconds, and a top speed of 155 mph, the little Dodge is able to hold its own with the imports.

Say Hello to My Little Friend

By Mike Musto

So far I’ve driven most of the big guns in Chrysler’s SRT arsenal, but now they’ve surprised me with a little pocket rocket: The Caliber SRT-4. Check the blog early next week for a full review.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8: One Fast Box

By Mike Musto

RideLust.com

Through the years, I’ve driven all manner of Jeep. From the old 80′s Cherokee Chiefs and Wagoneers to the 90′s Sports and Wranglers to the new generation of Liberties and Patriots–I’ve put down a lot of miles in these things, and why not? They’re great vehicles. Hell, my brother has a 1999 Wrangler 5-speed with 152k on the clock and the thing has never missed a beat.

As you know, in the past few weeks I’ve sampled a few of Chrysler’s new hot rods like the Challenger R/T and SRT-8. So when they asked me if I would like to give the new Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 a try, there was no argument on my end. It rolled up to my driveway just as you see here–a big silver box with chrome wheels and a body kit. Hmmm, not really my cup of tea, but what the hell, it’s my job, so I grabbed the little key fob thingy and hit the road.
