2011 Challenger Gets the New 305 HP Pentastar V6
By Rob Einaudi

Up to now the Challenger has been lagging a bit in the pony cars wars. For the V8 cars it’s been hurting in the price category–realistically Challengers end up being a lot more expensive than “equivalent” Mustangs or Camaros, and dealers don’t seem to budge on price. And compared to the other V6 cars it’s been straight up underpowered, especially when you factor in the Mopar’s added heft. Well today Chrysler announced that the 2011 Challenger will get the new 305 HP Pentastar V6. Pricing is in line with the 305 hp V6 Mustang and 312 hp V6 Camaro at $23,245. Yeah, it’s still heavier (366 pounds heavier than the Mustang and 78 pounds heavier than the Camaro), but I think it’s more practical (bigger back seat and trunk, better outward visibility than the Chevy) and better looking than the other two. No gas mileage figures yet but I imagine it will be close to the Camaro’s numbers (17/28). Sounds like great daily driver material to me.
No images of the 2011 SE yet. That’s Mike’s 09 SE below. Read the full press release after the jump!

Chevy Volt Ready For Pre-Order
By Steve Little
SouthernGuy8503
The 2011 Chevy Volt has been a long time coming, but Chevrolet has been taking pre-orders for its new electric for the better part of a month now. Though there have been reports of dealer gouging, the Volt is offered at the official site for $350 a month with $2500 down. Or purchase for as low as $33,500 after the $7,500 tax credit. The Volt is so far only available in the major markets of New York, New Jersey, D.C., Michigan, Texas, California, and Connecticut. It’ll be interesting to see if and where it gains traction–what are your thoughts, does Chevy have a winner? More pics below the jump.

Video: Fastlane’s Turbo 5.0 2011 Mustang Makes 543 RWHP
powerTV Media
The new 5.0 liter engine from Ford is proving to be a hot commodity among aftermarket shops. By itself the engine makes 412 horsepower and 390 ft-lbs of torque. Let a bunch of aftermarket specialists at it and you better be prepared for some seriously impressive torque numbers. And the engine is surprising even the most optimistic engineers.
Why just 6 psi you ask? Well the new 5.0 has a very high compression of 11.0:1. Forced induction is a fan of low compression engines (usually around 9.0:1 or even lower) which allows the engine to run higher psi. For an otherwise stock engine though, those are some great numbers. Fastlane makes a similar kit for the 2010 Camaro, which through an automatic transmission makes around 530 whp. That 5.0 looks better and better every day.

2011 Mustang V6 Takes On Two Mustang GT’s
powerTV Media
When Ford announced that their new 3.7 liter V6 engine would make 305 horsepower, everybody was pleasantly surprised. After enduring 17 years of the humdrum 4.0 liter V6 (with just 210 horsepower and 240 ft-lbs of torque) the base Mustang finally had an engine drivers could be proud of. It even made more horsepower than many previous generation V8’s.
Need proof? Check out this YouTube video of a Mustang V6 taking on a 2003 and 1993 Mustang GT at Dorchester Dragway. Just for fun, there is a Nissan Murano thrown in the mix. Read more on the runs at StangTV.com
