1990 Nissan 240SX For Sale
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
From the ad on UsedVicoria:
Come view this fine vehicle on Ross Durrance Rd where I parked it on the side of the road in the swamp. Carpets a little wet, and a few minor dents and scratches. Handles air time well. Seems to pull to the left a bit.
Two more pics after the jump! Thanks for the tip, Evan!

Matt Powers' Nissan 240SX
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
Step into a time machine, dig up those JDM Option VHS cassettes and reminisce for a minute. Do you remember exactly what made you fall in love with drifting? Was it because of the dramatic twin-drifting? Was it the function follows form flair (say that 5 times fast)? Or was it the fact that drifiting was just so different from anything else; based on nothing other than style? Drifting has always appealed to the alt. crowd of motorsports enthusiasts. Tuning only meant removing collars from coil-overs and fitting dope wheels. In essence, car goes down, wheels go out.
There was something magical about seeing a pair of mid 90s rear-wheel drive cars, slammed to the floor with ridiculous wheel fitment, and going sideways at equally fantastic speeds. You could really see the drivers’ passion expressed through their driving and through their cars’ styling. These cars were usually “built” at home by the drivers, and for the most part, conventional car tuning was never a concern; They only cared about looking bad ass, and looking even more bad ass going sideways. Yes, It's Pink. Yep, He's Okay With That.
By Jen Dunnaway

You have to admire a man with the confidence it takes to roll in a pink ride, but what really cracks me up is Jake’s explanation for his 240SX’s new color: "I realize that it would definetly look much better if i were to paint it all black or a gun metal gray… but anyone can make a black car look sweet. Not everyone can make a pink car sweet." But this car isn’t any powder puff: he’s also had it apart for a complete engine build-up, including reworked internals and a lot of performance goodies. Check out this unique work-in-progress!

UTCC Contender: Joe's LS1 Powered 240SX
By Rob Einaudi

Joe has done a lot of drifting with his Chevy-powered 240SX, but claims it’s a pretty good track car, too. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing it out at Buttonwillow in June.

Nissan 240 With LS6 Swap!
By John
Editor
While Nissan’s 240SX is a great-looking ride with awesome handling, the stock motor could really use a little more power. Of course, a lack of power shouldn’t be a problem for Kevin. He shoe-horned an LS6 motor into his 1991, and if this video is any indication, this puppy goes like a bat out of hell. The project isn’t finished yet, but it looks like he’s well on his way. Keep up the good work Kevin!

Nice Little Drift Car!

Check out Eric’s new page for his 240SX, which he and his shop, Andy’s Auto Sport, have built up into a pretty respectable drift car! The 240SX was bone-stock and clapped out when it came to them. Now, after an engine swap, a few fresh coats of Merlot metallic, a dual ball-bearing Garrett turbo install and a whole lot more great goodies, it’s tearing up the track. I agree with one of the commenters in Eric’s guestbook: I can’t wait to see some footage of it on CarDomain Video!

Mike's NismoSpit!
By John
Editor
British cars are really pretty, but everyone knows they tend to be a wee bit temperamental. That’s why Mike decided to swap the motor from a wrecked ’91 240SX into his old Spitfire. In addition to the drastic improvement in reliability, the Nissan motor has a lot more pep than the 50-odd horsepower mill which came with the car, so it should be a blast to drive. And while the project isn’t completed yet, it looks like he’s doing a bang-up job—just check out the video of it running! Best of luck with your project Mike, I can’t wait to see the finished product! If you were going to do an engine swap, what set-up would you choose?

9 From The '90s: Nissan 240SX
By Rob
Editor-in-Chief
It’s hard to believe that this car was pretty much ignored for most of the 90s. Why? Well, it was kind of slow, and most Nissan fans paid more attention to the Z-car. Nowadays there are a ton of bolt ons for more power, and the 240SX is the darling of the drift scene (it’s quite popular on the track as well). Prices range from $1,500 to $15,000, but 5 speed examples tend to get snapped up quick. If you’re a fan of the 240SX, be sure to drop by DarkDrift’s ride page. You can read more about the 240SX and get info on a ton of resources for these cars in the December issue of Grassroots Motorsports, on newsstands now.
And that’s it for Grassroots Motorsports‘ "9 From The ’90s" series. If you missed any of them, you can read the rest here.
