From The Hemmings Flickr Pool: Non-Ghia Ghia Chrysler
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
That Hugo90 has done wonders for the Hemmings Nation Flickr pool, bringing us all sorts of weird and exotic cars we’ve never heard of, that I thought it time we repay him, just as Mack and the boys on Cannery Row always feel the need to repay Doc for his generosity. The opportunity recently arose when Hugo90 posted a few photos of a Ghia-looking mystery car that he photographed nearly 30 years ago in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Fortunately, we have an answer for him. Read on…

Photo of the Day
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
As someone who pretty much never sees any of my own cars issued as die casts or model kits, I always have a sort of wistful appreciation of people who get to buy little versions of their rides to take pictures with. This one comes from pakisalim’s Chrysler 300C ride page. If you’ve got a cool photo you’d like to see featured, send me a PM!

Video From DUB Anaheim!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
The DUB tour kicked off this weekend in Anaheim, and we sent Larry Chen—our number one photographer—to shoot pics and video. Given how crappy the economy is, I was really curious about the level of cars that would be there. But from the looks of this video, the DUB demographic hasn’t been effected by the downturn at all.
Larry also shot over 300 pics for our Events section. Check them out!

Top Ten Automotive Things About Which I Disagree With Most Other Automotive Journalists
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
If you read the major car publications it’s easy to get the feeling that all automotive journalists agree on everything. When journalists sing universal praise, throw jeers or are notoriously silent, it’s hard for readers to disregard.
There are plenty of conspiracy theories that blame editors beholden to advertisers scaring writers into not even trying to say something good about one car or bad about another. Personally, I buy more into the explanation of groupthink, as it’s easy to be confident in your opinion when others have come to the same conclusion time and time again.
I, however, being totally independent (not to mention subtle-as-a-chainsaw) have no problem saying where I differ from the rest. So here is my list of Top Ten Automotive Things About Which I Disagree With My Colleagues.
10) Chrysler 300C: I’ve owned plenty of Chryslers in my time, so maybe this is why I approached the 300C with a more critical eye. Consequently, I never liked the 300C (and its lesser variations) as much as the rest of the automotive journalists.
Everyone else saw a good-looking car with ample power from the “Hemi V8″. I saw past the nice styling and focused on a huge car with sub-Honda Accord-sized leg and knee room (courtesy of typically ultra-thick, but not very comfortable front seats). As nice as the Hemi (sans hemispherical combustion chambers) was, it couldn’t overcome the totally numb steering and spongy braking that made the car feel cumbersome. Plus, as someone who lived through Chrysler ownership, there was always the certainty that the 300C would be just like Chrysler’s other vehicles — engineered at low cost to ensure high failures, which would only be made worse by one of the most poorly trained dealer service networks in America.

This weekend was the 4th annual Spring Festival of the LXs down in So Cal, and it sounds like it was the biggest and best yet! Be sure to check out the coverage of this cool event at Automotive Traveler. Of course the LX Forums have a ton of pics, too. Heavy Hitters was there to represent as well.

My Night With The 300C SRT-8
By Ryan Porter
IN-N-OUT Editor
I’m used to ignoring 300Cs when I see them at the stoplight and in every parking lot, but after Chrysler tossed us the keys to their 300c SRT-8 I now find myself scoping every 300C out there.
Like always Rob was nice enough to set me up on a date date with the press car, and I was lucky enough to keep her overnight. Overall I was incredibly impressed with this machine, and when it came down to writing about her, I couldn’t come up with one thing to right about so instead, here is pictorial. More pics after the jump!

Showroom Showdown or Caption Contest?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I snapped this pic of our 300C SRT-8 test car at a rest stop on I-5 on the way back from Portland this weekend. I’ll share my thoughts on the big bad Mopar tomorrow, but for now I thought I’d just toss this out there. So is this left lane vs. right lane? Union built vs. non-union built? 18 mpg vs 48 mpg? V8 vs I4? Hemi vs. hybrid. Red state vs. blue state? Form vs. function? Retro vs. modern? Past vs. future..?

Chrysler 300C SRT-8: the Best One Night Stand
Weston Henderson
Well folks, let me start with a question. Who understands what it feels like to get your ass kicked by a car? I do!
I had the distinct pleasure of test driving possibly one of the last high performance Chryslers to be developed, and the experience did not disappoint. Speaking to the American consumer, let me say this: America can make quality cars and the Chrysler 300c SRT-8 is proof of that. I only had one night with this sweet girl, but it’s going down as one of the best nights I’ve had with a car. Every time I got out of the car I swear I heard it whisper, “Was it as good for you as it was for me?”
Now that you understand that I basically had a love affair with the 300C, let’s start with the review, shall we?

Stretched 300C in the Mopar Booth
By John Coyle
Editor
When we were writing up last year’s Best of SEMA coverage, I mistakenly identified a 300C as a Bentley. It was an unbelievably stupid move, and for the next three months or so, whenever we saw a 300C, Rob or Jen would be all, "hey, sweet Bentley." And while that whole painful incident is behind me now, I couldn’t help but think about it when I saw this almost Bentley-grade Mopar at SEMA. While I can’t say I’m all about the targa top, I think the long wheelbase, suicide doors and pimped passenger compartment look wicked. I tried really hard to get decent pics of the interior, but between the closed windows and the bright lights, it was really tough. I’ve posted a couple of my better attempts after the jump.
