Nissan 350z Hoonage

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

Drifting is loud, smelly, creates a load of smoke, and to top things off it etches your semi-permanent autograph into the streets! Probably best to do it on a closed course next time… Read more about the 350z hoonage at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

The Forum Wars: Mustang vs. Z

By Rob Krider

Racerboy

The Forum Wars TV show puts different forums and different cars head to head in an all-out tire-smoking speed contest. The show will begin to air segments on Speed TV April 5th, along with full episodes on-line. The first episode of the show features Stangnet.com against My350Z.com. For the premier episode, I got to represent Stangnet in a 2008 Ford Mustang Shelby GT outfitted with Hoosier Tires, Carbotech Brake Pads and I/O Port Racing Supplies harnesses. It was a blast, but I don’t get to tell you what happens!

Check out the trailer below and check to see on April 5th who wins the match-up: Mustang or Z?

We Dig Northwest Style!

By Antonio Alvendia

Antonio Alvendia

I’m still sorting through all the photos I took during my trip to Seattle… believe me, there were A LOT. However, I thought I’d just take a brief detour from the Formula D action to showcase some of the cars I saw at the event, which really clue you in on how dope the Pacific Northwest cars are. I just don’t understand how people can sleep on the scene up there so much! All the big car magazines and media sites seem to only focus on Southern Cali, but those of us who have traveled all over the world can tell you that the Northwest has style!!! Tons of it. Let’s take a look! Continue reading and view more photos on MotorMavens

Formula Drift Seattle, Part 1

By Antonio Alvendia

Antonio Alvendia

It’s really, really late. I just got to the Formula D “host hotel” in Bothell, WA not too long ago, where tons of the Formula D tour regulars are sitting out in the lobby and outside patios with drinks in hand, being loud and cracking jokes, trying to unwind from a long day at the track.  However, some teams had a longer day at the track than others… when I arrived to the Formula D pit area, I noticed Robbie Nishida‘s Dynamic Autosports/Hankook Tire 350Z up on jackstands, in the dusty, dirt covered pit area of Evergreen Speedway. Apparently, just a few minutes before I arrived, Robbie’s 350Z made contact with the wall on one of his practice runs, severely damaging the left side of his car. Above is a photo of the car, with the hood, fender, and suspension off as the Dynamic team hustles to collect parts to repair the car in time for tomorrow’s main qualifying session. Z One and Only

By Antonio Alvendia

Antonio Alvendia

As one of the more prolific tuning platforms on the market today, the Z33 350Z even in stock form provides for an excellent combination of power, handling, looks, and relative value. The RWD sports coupe can be found in nearly all forms of motorsports and has particularly excelled at drifting, capturing back to back championships for Tanner Foust in 2007 and 2008.

The long awaited introduction of the 370Z has many 350Z fans scratching their heads, however, as Nissan took away the flowing lines and sleek styling in lieu of an overly edgy and incoherent design. For many of us here at Motor Mavens, the 07-08 Z still stands as arguably the best looking Z of the past generation and for fellow Maven Mike Maez, he unequivocally agrees.

Mike’s take on the Z33 is one that caught our eye for a number of reasons. For one, it isn’t too over the top with a flashy body kit or a wild graphics scheme. There is attention to detail with the fitment and the wheel selection, which is always a plus, but furthermore it represents a very specific paint and wheel combo that we’ve never seen before on the 350Z. Combined with a solid ride height, an Akebono brake setup borrowed from the aforementioned 370, and just the right amount of bolt-ons, we were convinced that this was one Z that easily takes Center Stage.

Jun AWD Hyper Lemon 350Z R

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

After reading Mike’s post about the Team Orange cars and their converted EVO’s and Impreza’s, I started thinking about a well known Z33 which was converted the other way around, from rwd to awd: this JUN-built Hyper Lemon 350Z R. The rumor is, it was built for someone who lives in Hong Kong and wanted to use it as a Time Attack car, but nothing has been seen of this Z33 since it was finished and delivered. So I’m not sure what happened to it in the end, but I hope to see it again tearing up the Tsukuba circuit. Continue reading at Speedhunters

DPE 350Z

By Speedhunters

Car Culture At Large

Just spotted this 350Z with what looks like to be DPE ST-10 wheels. I have been told that white is the color of 2009, so this 350Z is already ahead of its time. I always love the contrast on a white car together with black wheels.

Paul Walker Can Freakin' Drive

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

When I chatted with Paul Walker at the Fast & Furious shoot last year, he struck me as a pretty serious gearhead. But at the time I never suspected he could rip up a track like this. It’s too bad they didn’t let him do any of the stunt driving for the film–(he was a little sad about that, too)–because he seems to have some pretty burly skills on him. Check out this epic drift video from Streetfire–Walker, Tanner Faust ‘n’ pals go out to play at Willow Springs raceway in a bunch of awesome rides, including  a 2010 Mustang and a whole heap of GT-Rs. Enjoy!

Esprit’s Z33 350Z Race Car

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

I love how hardcore this car is. Esprit always has made some hardcore race cars and crazy parts. Although Esprit is known for some crazy NSXs and GT-Rs, I really like just how raw this 350Z is. Notice the dry carbon doors, the dry carbon wing, and the dry carbon intercooler duct, three of Esprit’s many parts they built for this car. Pure function.
