MCR’s Answer to the World’s Economic Woes: a $6,000+ 350Z Exhaust

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

MCR doesnt care that bad financial news has dominated the newspapers and media. MCR doesn’t really care if you can’t afford their exhaust. MCR doesn’t really care about anything except building the ultimate. And so what if that means that it costs thousands more than the most expensive 350Z exhaust ever built? It is still the ultimate and nobody can take title that away.

So essentially MCR teamed up with Nippon Steel to produce this full titanium exhaust with a dual layout. It is 32lbs lighter than the stock exhaust, it’s comfortable for daily use with a 92db rating, and it has some incredible detailing in the design that pictures explain better than my words. Think of it like the Amuse or the Mines latest and greatest Z33 exhaust, just with a +1.

Congrats to Chris, our first Amoco Ultimate American LeMans Series winner! Chris, who submitted entry #1022 and owns a sweet 350Z, will attend the American LeMans Series race of his choice!

I am 23 years old and Ive had this car for about a year and a half. It is a 2003 Pikes Peak White 350z. I have invested every penny that i can afford while paying for rent and student loans. It turns heads of all types from young to old. Which is why i do it. Not to win trophies or races but really give someone a little eye candy in their day. Its a Daily Driver no joke with full interior and exterior custom. I do autocross and local drift events as well. My Dad has been building Corvettes as a side project since I can remember. Hes a diesel mechanic that has worked 2 jobs for over 20 year.

There are still more chances to win, so if you haven’t already thrown your hat into the ring, make sure to enter the Amoco Ultimate Your Car Is Worth It Photo Contest!

2007 Nissan NISMO 350Z: More Than The Sum Of Its Parts

By Rich Truesdell

Automotive Traveler

Over a year ago, in the inexorable ramp-up to the introduction of the Nissan GT-R super car, the NISMO 350Z was introduced at the 2007 New York International Automobile Show. In a way, it’s almost as if it got lost in the shuffle, and with an as-delivered price of $39,615, it flew under most enthusiasts’ radar. So what’s it like?

Well, after eight days, two intense road trips to the California Desert, and almost 2,000 miles, I have a very clear idea. After all that seat time, I discovered an athletic performance car—unheralded in many ways—that’s capable of showing its tail pipes to a host of far better-known and more-expensive competitors.

DC Design Rolls-Royce One-Off

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

Ok, so I was wrong. I blogged about this car last week, we put it on the homepage and it created quite an uproar. I found the pics on World Car Fans and they seemed convinced that the car was a 350Z. Seemed to be a reasonable assumption to me. But then Christopher posted this link to BentleySpotting.com in the comments, which identified the car as a one-off built on a 1995 Rolls Royce Silver Spirit III by an Indian company named DC Design. Whoops. And some people who left comments were pissed at me for hating on the car. Sorry guys, but that rear end really looks awful. Seriously. Tons more pics after the jump.

JDM Custom Interiors

By Ben Schaffer

Bulletproof Automotive

Every once in a while I bring up these two cars in discussions with friends. They are without a doubt the two best custom interiors I’ve ever come across in a Japanese tuned sport car. I first saw these cars three years ago and I haven’t seen anything classier or better since. They are two of the Black X Metal demo cars produced by DAMD (the Aston Martin type front bumper cars). I’ve been the US distributor of DAMD for a number of years and fortunately we’ve been able to do a few of the Aston Martin bumpers on some US cars. Its a crazy kit, always controversial.

As far as the interior goes, it’s all one-off work that is actually done by the wife of the owner of DAMD. I heard she’s an interior designer or something. At any rate, this stuff is top notch design.

First up, the 350Z interior (sorry for the tacky watermarks, that was our old watermark style). And I have a pic of the Miata interior after the jump.

Another Reason To Drive Stick: Theft-Reistance

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Maybe driving a manual shift doesn’t make you a better person, but it can help keep your ride safe from carjackers. One crook figured this out the hard way when, having just been released from Palm Beach County Jail, he decided it’d be a good idea to drag some poor woman from her 350Z and attempt a getaway. Problem was, the car had a 5-speed and the criminal had no idea how to drive it, and could only sit in one spot revving. Componding the humiliation, he was soon forced back out of the car at gunpoint by a priest who worked at the jail. At least no one was hurt, and the 350Z was spared a potentially disasterous joyride at the hands of a dumb criminal who claimed he just didn’t feel like walking. More at msnbc.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Trailer!

By John Coyle

Editor

All of the games in the Gran Turismo series have been super popular, and from the looks of this trailer, the fifth installment should be a total blast. One big complaint die-hard fans have had with the series—the lack of damage modeling—has been fixed, and graphics look so good, it almost makes you wonder why you can’t smell any exhaust. Of course, there’s a laundry list of different cars available to flog—check out some of the superstars starring in the preview below. The prologue—which doesn’t have all the features the full version will contain—will be released on April 28th, with the complete game to follow in the next 12 months.
