Ferrari 599XX
By Rob Einaudi

Here are the first pics of the new and very limited production Ferrari 599XX, which, according to Ferrari, “incorporates the most advanced technologies resulting from Ferrari’s road-going and F1 research.” Truthfully, I’m not a huge fan of the 599, but this version is making me like it a bit more. Murcielago Crushes the 599 on CarDomain
By Rob Einaudi

Well, this week’s Showroom Showdown wasn’t even close. The vote was nearly 3-to-1 in the Lambo’s favor. I personally prefer the Ferrari, but I wouldn’t mind the Lambo, especially in matte blue.

Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano vs. Lamborghini Murcielago LP640: Which Would You Choose?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
It’s a Ferrari-Lambo rematch! Back in December 2007 we pitted an F430 against the Gallardo and the F430 crushed the Lambo. So this is Lamborghini’s chance to get even. The front engine RWD 599 has a 6.0 liter V12 that puts out 620 hp. The mid-engine AWD Murcielago has a 6.5 liter V12 that puts out 640 hp. The Ferrari weighs in at 3,482 pounds while the Lambo weighs 3,670 pounds. The Lambo costs a tad more, but once you get over $300,000, who’s counting? Both cars are fast as hell and look hot. So, which would you choose?

British Soccer Player Wrecks Ferrari 599

Sounds like Cristiano Ronaldo was showing off for his teamate, who was following behind, and slammed into a wall in a tunnel near Manchester. Really sad for this beautiful car, but Ronaldo was unscathed. More pics at Jalopnik

This Just In: New on the Net
By JohnCoyle

I’m not an economist—I barely understand how to balance my checkbook—but I’m a little freaked out by the whole Wall Street crisis. Maybe I just like the idea of being a citizen of a first-world country, I don’t know. Anyway, here’s the news:
- The XF sedan has been a success for Jaguar, but since the XJ and the XK aren’t exactly flying out of showrooms, the company has decided to cut production at its Castle Bromwich plant. While it obviously makes sense to adapt production to demand, I don’t get why those uber-hot XKs aren’t selling. Autocar
- If these spy shots are any indication, it looks like Ferrari is going to offer a drop-top version of its 599. It’s not clear if the Prancing Horse will get some engine tweaks to counter the extra weight, but something tells me this baby is going to look sexy as hell topless. Auto Express
- Mercedes has been making armored cars for 80 years, and to mark the occasion, the company has released the S600 Pullman. It’s fast, bullet-proof and also features a self-sealing gas tank, so it’s just perfect for your third world dictator or drug lord friends. Order now to insure delivery by December 25th! Motor Authority
- While racing in second place during the wet and wild Belgian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton slid through a hairpin and wound up in front of leader Kiki Raikkonen. After allowing Raikkonen to retake the lead, Hamilton went on to win. But after some post-race analysis, the FIA determined the slide amounted to an illegal advantage, and docked him 25 seconds, which put Hamilton in third. Of course, the McLaren team was pissed and filed suit, but today a French judge refused to hear the case. Sounds like Hamilton was robbed to me. AutoWeek

Another Day at the Office

VWVortex member Brandontrek1 works at a high end custom shop in Miami. These shots depict a typical day at the office–ripping apart a Porsche Carrera GT or a Ferrari 599. Nice work if you can get it. A few more pics after the jump, or view them all at VWVortex.
Flog a Day-Old Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano? You Don’t Need to Ask Me Twice!
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
It isn’t often that someone offers to let me drive their 612 horsepower supercar, much less one delivered within the last 24 hours. Evidently, my clean living has finally paid off, because that is exactly what happened.
The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is the latest in a classic line of high-performance front-engine sports GT vehicles that includes icons like the 212 Inter, 250GT SWB, 275 GTB/4 and 365 GTB/4 Daytona. It bears the name of the company’s test track in Maranello, which is a great indication that its capabilities have been meticulously honed via plenty of tire-smoking test laps.
The 599 appears much different in the flesh compared to the pictures. Many enthusiasts and journalists have questioned the 599′s looks based on photos (including me) but I am happy to report that the car is amazingly elegant and muscular. Pictures simply do not pick up the intricate details, such as the chiseled rear buttresses and wheel wells that add to the overall muscular stance. Continue reading…

No

Just no.
I guess in Saudi Arabia an already classic Ferrari 599 wont get you noticed enough. I’m guessing the owner of this car must have serious self confidence issues…
