It was February, 1968 when Bunkie Knudsen arrived in Dearborn. Henry Ford II had successfully recruited Knudsen from Pontiac, after Ed Cole was appointed President at GM. In September of 1969, Knudsen was shown the door but the impact he’d had at Ford would continue to be felt for years. Read more…

Bonanza: Gigantic US Marshal Auction Postponed To April 1

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

There’s a whole pile of confiscated cars and bikes that are going to be auctioned off in Utah at the beginning of next month, with nearly 300 of them reportedly having been seized from a single white-collar criminal. Jeffrey Mowen, failed ponzi scheme mastermind, had the vehicles stashed all over the State, and the feds rounded them up for the auction once his federal conviction was secured. According to BringATrailer, the auction was to have been run in January, but was postponed to April 1st, a short-notice switch that could work out well for bidders seeking cheap deals. Check out the gallery of individual ride for sale here, and check out the TV news spot on the originally-scheduled auction here.

Fast and Furious Charger Heads to Monterey Auction

By Fireball Tim

Movie Car Design Master

So, the boys at Cinema Vehicles are furiously trying to finish the original Fast and Furious Charger (from the first movie) so that it can head to Monterey for the Mecum Auction. This beast should fetch a pretty penny and here’s why….

Ah hem…

The motor is a Mopar 528 Hemi with Indy cylinder racing heads. A Blower Shop 8/71 blower with electronic fuel injection and BDS Bugcatcher scoop with a NOS 250 HP nitrous injection. Hold on, gotta catch my breath for a second…

….Ok, good to go. It has a TCI prepped auto tranny with a Currie 9″ rear. The motor’s been dynoed at 915hp on 91 octane,…. um, without NOS.

You still standing? Get to Monterey and see this monster…

GM Heritage Going on the Block at B-J

By Katherine Helmetag

The Lansing State Journal is reporting that GM will weed out the Heritage Collection and auction off up to 250 cars at next month’s Barrett-Jackson event. Before you freak out, the Heritage Collection is huge, and has been through several reductions in volume in the past. Mercifully, they usually manage to keep the cool stuff. However, the Ransom E Olds Museum in Lansing plans to fight to keep the “Darth Vader” 1985 Cutlass that resides in its gallery. I don’t recall seeing a GM Heritage banner on the windshield of that car during my last visit, so hopefully they can keep it. It’s wicked. For the rest of you, get out your checkbooks.
