Jalopnik's Plan to Fix NASCAR

By Austin Knight

Gotadime

Jalopnik has a pretty good plan to “fix” NASCAR. I myself have never enjoyed the sport and often think of it as a waste of fuel and rubber, but perhaps with these adjustments, I would watch it once or twice (when nothing else is on…and I really mean nothing). Take a look at their plans.

Speaking of Supercar Garages…

By Austin Knight

Gotadime

I just happened to stumble across Mecca. Jason Thorgalsen recently photographed the most impressive Supercar Garage I’ve ever seen and it couldn’t have come at a better time. You guys aren’t going to believe what he found. Here’s a direct quote:

Recently, I was invited to a friends place to check out his house and car collection. Among his collection he has 2 Challenge Stradales, Murcielago, Carrera GT, and a F40. The black CS has some nice mods done to it including straight pipes, gold rims, and a Scuderia stripe in matte black. The Murcielago has the AWD system converted to RWD with a few other mods so its a real monster! Last but not least the Carrera GT has straight pipes! When you finally leave the garage, you walk through the house and come to find the F40 sitting right next to the living room! The whole room is dedicated to Ferrari, so having a real one in there just seems right. Then in the living room is one of the best video game setups I have ever seen. Four of us sat down and got to racing on Forza 2. It was pretty fun racing head to head while trash talking to the person right next to you.

Sixteen more pictures after the jump.

Special Cars, Special Places

By Austin Knight

Gotadime

About a week ago, Alex Vickers tipped me off to a small, unsuspecting used car dealership in the outskirts of Frankfort, Kentucky. He had stopped in there earlier that week and told the owners that I would probably be coming by to check out the odd collection that could only be found on MapQuest by typing in the address of the Waffle House across the street. So, on Monday, I woke up at about 11:00 (yeah, I know), got ready, gathered up the camera, gave the ‘Stang a quick wash, put the top down and was on the road in no time (more like two and a half hours). On the way, I got to thinking about what I imagine the place to be like (because I’m literally always off by a mile) and I realized that I actually had very low expectations. Man, was I horribly mistaken.

Keeneland Concours d'Elegance

By Austin Knight

Gotadime

This weekend, I attended the annual world-class car event at Keeneland. That event is the Concours d’Elegance. The featured manufacturer this year was Morgan. It really was great to see so many world-class vehicles in such a stunning venue and my camera sure did have a blast eating up all of the scenes. From the classic Packard to the straight-off-the-boat Audi R8, this show had it all and I did my best to capture as much I could in the little time I had. Feast your eyes on the scene below and check out the full gallery at my Flickr page.

Mike Burroughs' 1988 BMW 635CSi

By Austin Knight

Gotadime

Mike Burroughs is a world class automotive photographer and proud owner of his 1988 BMW 635CSi. When considering working with Mike (for photography purposes), I was fishing through his Flickr and came across a relatively rare BMW that he seemed to photograph multiple times. I quickly found that it was his own ride and when I contacted him about it, he was more than happy to talk.

The Nuerburgring Webcam

By Austin Knight

Gotadime

With the large list of events occurring at Nuerburgring this year, including Recaro Days last weekend, I’ve been on the search for special views into the track. You may have seen this before, but with this awesome Nuerburgring Webcam, you can see all of the action at the gates of The Ring, live! Refresh the page and the camera updates. Trust me, this can get a little addicting. Note that a whole lot of concept / upcoming cars roll through these gates. Keep a close eye on this cam and you might spot yourself a very special car.

A Weekend at Mid-Ohio

By Austin Knight

Gotadime

From June 19-21, I covered the entire set of events at the Mid-Ohio Race Course and it was an absolute blast. I’ve attended the Rolex Series’ EMCO Gears Challenge since 2006, but this time I did something different. I got together with some friends and we stayed in an RV that was parked on the course! You would fall asleep to the silent, calming sound of an empty, peaceful track and wake up to the sound of racers taking the course at 200 MPH. It was relaxing and exhilarating at the same time. For someone as into racing as I am, the entire experience was a glimpse of heaven. View the full released gallery and read more after the jump.

Can You Identify This Car?

By Austin Knight

Gotadime

In Round Eight, Lilredchev took the win with “Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG”. An honorable mention goes to Varouj, who originally said “Mercedes-Benz G-Class”. Consolation prize goes to Simon, with “Pontiac Trans-Am”.

Now, on to round nine. The first person to guess the car correctly based on the pic below is a true car nut! Remember, all you need is the make and model—not the year. Here’s photo nine:

In Round Seven, Bestingeg guessed correctly with “Kia Soul”.

Now, on to round eight. It looks like Robert has been struggling lately, so here’s a hint: it’s not a Hillman Imp. The first person to guess the car correctly based on the pic below is a true car nut! Remember, all you need is the make and model—not the year. Here’s photo eight:
