Electric Mustang and Shelby Cobra from HST International
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Forget about the electric Elise. How about an electric Mustang? That’s what HST International is working on, along with a Shelby Cobra. Think they’ll be wussy? Think again. Their EV Mustang will do 0-60 in 3.9 seconds and their EV Cobra will do it in a blistering 3.2 seconds. Price? $80k and $125k respectively, and they’re taking orders now. More at AutoblogGreen.

Volt Mule Spied in Michigan
A few months ago when everyone was worried about the future of the Volt, we here on the CarDomain Blog leaked our info from GM – there were Volt mules running around Texas in Malibu bodies. Now one has been spotted up here in Michigan and a photo showed up over on AutoblogGreen. While there are plenty of things running around in the Malibu chassis up here, this one is distinguished by its bulging hood, required to house the stacked drivetrain components of the plug-in system. No one said this system was going to be easy to package, and it appears those European pedestrian safety standards won’t be difficult to meet. GM is only confirming a NiMH battery pack, but we hear the southern versions are already running with small stacks of Li-ion units. Makes sense to me as heat is going to be the enemy. The weather up here hasn’t provided the opportunity to do the warm weather testing needed for the hot battery packs.

Alternative Energy, Exceptional Power
By David
AKA Highspeedhijinks
Ford Motor Company made history on August 16th of this year with their hydrogen-powered Ford Fusion. They did so by taking the car to 207.297 MPH at the Bonneville Salt Flats, a land-speed record for a hydrogen-powered production-bodied vehicle. Ford created their "Fusion 999" in collaboration with Roush, Ballard Power Systems, and Ohio State University (engineers of the BuckEye Bullitt 2). Apparently, Ford has been testing the technology for some time, having had thirty similarly fuel-cell-powered Ford Focus test vehicles roaming the globe since 2005.
