By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
So you want a sporty AWD sedan for less than $30K? Two good options are the Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT and the Ford Fusion Sport AWD. The Subaru’s 2.5 liter turbo four banger puts out 243 hp while the Ford’s 3.5 liter V6 puts out 263 hp. The Subaru weighs 3,428 pounds while the Ford weighs 3,803 pounds. The Subaru is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic. The Ford is only available with a 6-speed automatic. Which would you choose?

Fensport AWD Celica
By Speedhunters
Car Culture At Large
This car has seen drag strips, circuits and has even been to Tsukuba to show the Japanese how it’s done in the UK. Fensport became immortal after making a 2.1l turbo 3s-gte powered Corolla that had AWD and was pushing 650bhp. But what do you make after that? Fensport wanted to make another all round car that was capable of winning quarter mile runs and hold its own during Time Attack battles.
They came up with this AWD Celica with another 3s-gte engine but this time it had 576bhp at the hubs. The base car was a generation 7 TRD M-sport Celica that was lighter and stronger. It is a special edition made from the factory that was specifically build for motorsport, it’s even lighter than the older GT4 Celica models. So you could think it was light enough, but knowing Fensport it wasn’t the case. Continue reading at Speedhunters

2008 Ford Edge AWD Limited
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
At first I thought our Ford Edge test car was a DUB edition, with the big chrome 20" wheels and 245/20 Pirellis. Turns out this wheel/tire package is an $895 option on the AWD Limited. And with the navigation and whatnot, this baby optioned out to around $38,000–a pretty hefty chunk of change.
Like the Hyundai Santa Fe we reviewed last week, the Edge is a mall cruiser, but without the off road pretensions. And it has a lot in common with the Mazda CX-7. But while the Mazda comes with a turbo four banger, the Edge comes with a 3.5 liter V6 that puts out a healthy 265 hp. Then again, the Edge weighs around 4,300 pounds, so it doesn’t exactly scoot. Which brings us to one of the main issues with this vehicle: the gas mileage is quite poor. We averaged around 18 mpg. Now, maybe that didn’t seem so bad when the Edge was first introduced almost two years ago, but that’s gonna be an major barrier for a lot of people these days. And all that weight also means that the Edge doesn’t handle all that well, either. It feels big and porky. So what’s to like? Quite a bit, actually. Continue reading…

Cool CarDomain Group: All Wheel Only
By Jen
Editor
It seems like there are very few automotive makes these days that don’t offer an AWD option on at least some of their vehicles. Whether these are honest-to-goodness full-time 4WD’s (minus the low-range) or simply glorified 2WD’s with a computer that briefly sends power to the non-drive axle when it senses wheel slip, AWD-equipped cars generally do a pretty good job of not letting their drivers down when road conditions turn slick. In other words, modern AWD’s are the most fun you can have in the snow without an AMC Eagle. And now, there’s a space on CarDomain for owners of these rides to congregate: check out All Wheel Only!
