S197 Mustang Concepts to be Auctioned Off at Barrett-Jackson
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
I don’t know about you, but I just about flipped out when I first saw these concepts back in 2003. Well, Ford has decided to auction them off at Barrett-Jackson in April. Apparently they run and drive, but it’s doubtful they could be registered. How much do you think they will fetch? More pics and a full press release after the jump. Via Autoblog

Final Bids at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale: Too Low, Too High, or a Mixed Bag?
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Within the last week, Barrett-Jackson held their Spring Auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. This is THE sale that usually determines the pricing that prominent collectible automobiles and trucks might be able to command over the next year. Because of the importance of this particular event, it is being covered by almost every automotive blog, print journal, and cable television channel, including Speed, Car and Driver, and of course, CarDomain. Based on the winning bid prices hammered at the close of the event on Saturday evening, it looks like the collectible car is being sought as a safe haven for an attractive investment. Out of over 320 Cars, Trucks, and Motorcycles sold on Saturday, 125 of them fetched over $100,000, Like the car illustrated below, the Buick Blackhawk, which sold for an astonishing $522,500, on a Scrap Title no less! Only one vehicle went over $1 million, and that was in fact the Ford Tri-Motor Airplane.

You Too Can Afford a Car at Barrett-Jackson. Yes you can!
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction has a reputation for getting top dollar from the buying public that attends this mega collection of vintage, performance, and significant vehicles. Many of these folks crave to own something a little different, or to recapture their lost youth. And why not? Where else on earth can you witness such a vast collection of machinery, all there just for you, if you have the money to back up your desire. You have cars and trucks from the early Brass Era, through modern concepts and customs, even a significant airplane.
But what if you’re not exceedingly wealthy, and can only afford about 1/2 of today’s average new car purchase (for arguments sake, lets call that about $22,000)? Could you actually take home something vintage, significant, or one-of-a-kind from the world famous Barrett-Jackson Auction. Why, yes you can, and here are some interesting examples.

GM Racing Machines at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Along with some significant (and not quite significant) vehicles available at the Scottsdale Barrett-Jackson Auction that GM Heritage Museum is disposing of, there is a group of racing and racing support cars that will be offered for bid. Most of these have been saved for the Finale on Sunday, in the hopes of achieving as much value as possible. A lot of these cars will be purchased for future vintage racing, or for racing museums, but I’m guessing that more than a couple will be actively campaigned in the very near future. Sit back, and buckle up your five point harness, here are some of the racing vehicles from the GM Historical Collection.

Wild Customized Creations from GM at Barrett-Jackson
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
There are always wild customized creations built by the car companies, to gauge the reaction to the potential car buying public. Some have been quite successful, while others are somewhat lacking as far as design, execution, or even taste. Here are five different examples of some wild GM creations, that are now being offered at the Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale this month.

Very Collectible Trucks Offered at Barrett-Jackson, from GM Heritage Collection
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
This year’s Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction can be summed up in this way: GM Heritage Collection Customized Show Vehicles, GM Heritage Collection Production Milestone Vehicles, GM Heritage Collection Engineering Studies, GM Heritage Collection Historic Vehicles, GM Heritage Collection Racing and Support Vehicles, a Ford 4-AT-E Tri-Motor Airplane (yes, they are auctioning off a significant historical Airplane!), and the remaining cars left to be auctioned. After going over the inventory listing that Barrett-Jackson plans on offering over the week long extravaganza in Scottsdale, I was truly amazed at the number of slots the Heritage Collection occupies. There are over 250 vehicles from the collection that GM needs to sell off.
