Batmobile on Craigslist
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Ok, obviously it’s not the real Batmobile–it’s someone’s rough interpretation of the Batmobile, based on a wrecked 1994 Pontiac Grand Am. Price seems a bit steep at $600, but I’m guessing that he’s willing to entertain offers. Build pics and the text from the Ann Arbor Craigslist ad after the jump. Via Jalopnik

Ford Escort Batmobile
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
It’s an ’88 Escort hatchback chopped into a convertible, sprayed with rhinoline, and equipped with a variety of features unheard of on Escorts of this era–like a real working trunk! I dig the gnarly hood scoop, the Batman Command Console, and the angled exhaust tips (which are purportedly functional, though I think that’s the actual exhaust sticking out where the rear plate used to be). Striking fear into the hearts of New Jersey denizens everywhere it goes, it’s even piloted by a middle-aged dude who dresses up in a batsuit to battle crime at corporate picnics and little kids’ birthday parties. More pics below the jump, and read more here. Thanks to 1lowscort for the tip.

Fireball’s Alphabet of Awesomeness… The B’s
By Fireball Tim
Movie Car Design Master
B. …B is a good letter. It stands for BITCHIN.’ Or maybe BOLONEY. Fried Boloney. Or how about BADASS. That’s a good one.
The word “be” suggests the present moment. As in “I be bitchin.” Which you KNOW you are. Not grammatically the best of usages, but hey, we’re car people and we say things like that.
So, here’s the best of the “B’s.” Not all of them, as the list would go on around the moon, but just a teaser. So, after you’ve checked them out… “Be positive and make something of your day.”
The B’s. Oh, and join in on my upcoming CAR SHOW in Huntington Beach.

Fireball heads to CBS for MOVIE CARS!
By Fireball Tim
Movie Car Design Master
Wow, what a cool day of shenanagans. (Is that spelled right? Like, does it matter?)
It’s pretty wild and fun to see a movie car at a show, but to see 30 of them at once was over the top! Way early, I headed to CVS to pick up my ride (The Fast & Furious Charger) and join up with several guys there. My buddy Bob brought in his original TV Series General Lee, Frank in the F&F Hot Rod Truck and a Tango & Cash beast.
We hung out all day at CBS with the likes of Adam Carola, Autoweek supereditor Mark Vaughn, KABC’s Dave Kunz and even Sophia Loren! Yes, she digs cars. (And no, I didn’t take a picture with her, but shot our new episode.) That will premiere at the end of the month. But, big thanks to Ken Latka and Tim Wong of TMPCC for hosting and Nate from Star Car Central for bringing the bad boys of movie cars. So, nuf’ of the wurds… On with the show…

By Fireball Tim

Not sure if you guys have ever seen this, but here’s a “behind the scenes” look on the building and testing of the latest Batmobile for the Dark Knight. Awesome. Oh, and if after that, you want something TOTALLY ridiculously cool, check out this one too…

Incredible DIY Tumbler
By John Coyle
Editor
Yup, Bob Dullam built this insane Tumbler replica in his garage, all by himself. Right now, the folks on VW Vortex and SuperheroHype are worshiping him as a god, and one look at the photo below will tell you why. The ace fabricator has been working off of pictures and the "Making of the Tumbler" extra from the Batman Begins DVD, and has custom made everything except the wheels, tires and rear axle. When he’s done, the result will be a drivable version of the burliest Batmobile ever. Wow. Even for someone who makes a living building movie replicas, this project is insane. Five more pics after the jump.

Superhero Cars
By Mike Musto
AKA Mr. Angry
First off, I have no idea how this topic popped into my head so just humor me, ok? Think about all the superheros out there. Batman, Superman, Hancock… doesn’t matter. Now, think about their rides. Who out there, aside from Batman, really has a kick ass car? Now, when I say Batman’s ride I mean the "Tumbler," not the original goof-mobile he drove in the 60s.
Tony Stark (Ironman) rolls in a Audi R8, which is a pretty wicked ride. Frank Castle (The Punisher) had a 1968 Pontiac GTO. I’ve been racking my brain thinking of some cool super rides and just haven’t come up with much. Who out there in superhero nerdville can help me out with this one?

Making of Batman's "Tumbler"
By John Coyle
Editor
Of all the movies coming out this summer, The Dark Knight is the one I’m most excited about. Heath Ledger—rest in peace—looks great as the Joker, and I think director Christopher Nolan knows exactly how to handle the material. Anyway, this clip about the making of the Tumbler—the new Batmobile—was going around the office the other day, and while I think the editing is a little scatterbrained, it’s still interesting. How cool is it that the new Batmobile is actually a burly tank, and not just a set piece?

Batman Partying at Beverly Wilshire?
By John Coyle
Editor
The guys from Car-Parazzi just posted this clip of the Batmobile running under its own power at the Beverly Wilshire, and it sounds burly. But what’s the deal? Did the Caped Crusader get over-served and have to catch a cab home? If so, I’m sure TMZ will have all the sordid details posted shortly.
