Bill Caswell To Build Baja BMW At SEMA, We Help

Our rally pal Bill Caswell, of BMW jumping, crashing, and hooning fame will be at the 2010 SEMA show in the Miller booth. Caswell will be transforming a BMW into a Baja 1000 competition vehicle which he will race at the off road contest in November. Since we’re chummy, Bill invited us to give him a hand welding on the car, and we gladly accepted!

He’ll be thrashing all week, but we’ll interrupt him and slow his progress around 10:30 am on Friday morning in the Miller booth. Caswell has been a devotee of Miller welders since he started burning Mig wire about 10 years ago. He’s not stopped and has been building road racing, rally, and 24 hours of Lemons cars like mad over the years.

The rendering of his BMW Baja brawler are pretty bad assed. As you’d expect, every inch of the car is going to be modified in some way or another to withstand the pounding of 1,000 miles of desert racing.

If you’ll be at SEMA, swing by the Miller booth on Friday morning to see us give Caswell the flop sweats as we fuse metal with electricity on his car!

The National Auto Sport Association (NASA) Western Endurance Racing Championship (WERC) held Round 5 at Buttonwillow Raceway Park. Drivers punished their brakes in the midst of a dark three hour on-track battle. This was the last round before the championship finale during the 25 Hours of Thunderhill in December. BMW Drifter Almost Wrecks

A good way to score high points in Formula D is to get your rear bumper as close to the obstacle as possible. If this BMW drifter was in competition for drifting, it would be an instant win. Good old CL is known for it beaters and fantastic low-buck finds, but since it’s become the classifieds-of-choice for enthusiasts, we’ve been seeing some pretty nice stuff turn up there as well. Check out this gorgeous built M3 for $32K OBO. I don’t follow Euros all that much, but it seems to me that a car like this would normally fetch a much higher price. Are these cars really that far in the toilet right now? Thanks to missourifornian for the tip!

The Team Edlinger E30

Last week, Jeroen, gave us a quick spotlight into the Team Edlinger E30. It’s hard to tell from the photos alone that the car is more than just a race car but more of a drooling, snarling, fire breathing beast. So, to follow up with that spotlight, here’s a video of the car hauling all sorts of behind while on its 2nd race. Turn up those speakers because this car sings!

Any race car that sparks like this E30 is a winner in my book.
