Smart Brabus Roadster in the Wild

By Katherine Helmetag

Some cars are so ridiculous even on paper that actually seeing them counts as a wow. Like the Smart Brabus Edition Roadster. Why? Why does this even exist? It’s bizarre, pointless, and not very good looking, either. The backside is after the jump.

Brabus Is Back – Impressed Once Again

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

I remember in the mid 1990s thinking Brabus was an incredible, almost mystical brand. I knew of a guy in Boston with two absolutely sick Brabus built cars back then. Those cars were pushing the limits and when you saw them you felt somehow like you were looking at the future, everything else looked old sitting next to it. This was the era of the Brabus 3 spoke rims, which were super hot at the time and now are an ugly memory to most, after being copied by just about everyone for a decade or so.

Enter the Black Baron by Brabus. I get that feeling all over again when I look at this car. Too bad the damn thing costs $800,000 USD. Anyway, have a look at some inspiration right here. Continue reading at The Real JDM

Pint Size Play Toy: Brabus Smart Car

By Mike Musto

AKA Mr. Angry

Automobiles, like people, come in all shapes and sizes. We have big ones, little ones, fat ones and skinny ones, and they all have a certain appeal to them. This weekend I found myself driving around in a car that I never thought would fit someone who’s 6’4" and 235 pounds. It was a Smart ForTwo diesel that was all tweaked up by Brabus, the crazy German tuner that takes mild-mannered Mercedes and turns them into super cars. When I first got a glimpse of this thing I was really was stunned at how small it is. I mean, it’s SMALL. However, looks can be deceiving, very deceiving.

The Smart is basically an egg on wheels. Interior room is actually quite impressive as I fit in there with no problems. The cockpit is laid out to provide you with everything you need and nothing you don’t. A big speedo with integrated fuel and temperature gauge are right in front of you, while a tachometer and clock are positioned in the middle of the dash in separate external gauge pods. The Smart also comes with a basic stereo, climate control and power windows. Again, simplicity at its finest. Seats are four-way adjustable and really don’t offer any support. Anything more than a 40 mile trip means you’ll be hurting.

Tuner Tesla By Brabus

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

Brabus got ahold of a Telsa and tuned it out a little bit. While the famous custom house kept their hands off the electric roadster’s mysterious powertrain, they did tart it up with a lot of wing-dings, including neon underglow. Get this: they also added a "space sound generator" that offers you a choice between a fake V8 engine rumble and a variety of Star Wars sound effects to spice up the roadster’s otherwise almost silent powerplant. It all seems a little goofy, especially considering that it’s unclear at this point whether or not the beleaguered Tesla will ever get on its feet. But hey, it’s got underglow, so it has to be cool. BRABUS SLR McLaren Roadster and Smart Ultimate 112

By John

Editor

Talk about a package deal! For just over a million bucks, German tuner BRABUS will hook you up with both a SLR McLaren Roadster and Smart Ultimate 112. Of course, both are beyond trick, feature matching paint/interior themes and of course, a few more horses. While it seems pretty stupid to even mention the word "practical" when referring to a deal like this, it seems like having the smart to bop around town in is kind of a good idea. If you’re dying to see the pair in person, they’ll be on display at the Geneva Motor Show. More photos and the press release after the jump.
