Veyron Fender Bender!

By Michael Berenis

Tampa Sports Car Examiner

Watch as this driver scrapes the curb and backs into another car.  I wonder who has to foot the bill for this accident? Is it the dealership’s fault, or the driver? See more Bugatti Veyron abuse at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

O’Gara Coach: So Much Awesome it Hurts

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

O’Gara Coach specializes in Aston Martin, Bentley, Bugatti and Rolls-Royce, and the showroom is even more mind-blowing than you’d expect an exotic car dealership in Beverly Hills to be. Seriously, just check out the photo below. A Koenigsegg CCX is on the left, a Bugatti Grand Sport is on the right, toward the center of the shot there’s a Lamborghini Reventon and a Pagani Zonda R, and in the back corner, there’s another Veyon and an LP670 SV. I mean, come on. Aside from SEMA, I’ve never seen so many rare high-dollar exotics in one place, and it was really cool watching the staff shuffle all the million-dollar metal around. One thing that struck me was how mild-mannered the Grand Sport sounded. Apparently, Bugattis are total pussy cats until you mash the throttle, at which point you produce a sonic boom. But even in the midst of such distinguished company, I was totally hypnotized by the track-only  Zonda R. It looks like something that escaped from Area 51, and when I closed the carbon fiber door, it was so light I was momentarily disoriented, like if I’d gone to move a boulder and discovered it was made of foam. When it was being pushed into the showroom, one of the folks on hand described it perfectly: “It looks like the Batmobile just did a line of coke.” I wish I’d come up with that. Watch some videos of these awesome machines after the jump, and head over to the events section to check out all my photos.

Koenigsegg CCR Evo vs. Corvette ZR1!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

The Corvette ZR1 is no joke, but this drag race proves that it’s no match for the uber-exotic Koenigsegg CCR Evo. And while this clip is totally wicked, I kind of want to see the Swedish meatball pick on someone its own size. Like how about watching it go toe-to-toe with a Veyron or an Ultimate Aero? Those babies might be able to give it some competition.

Conan’s New Character: Bugatti Veyron Mouse!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Conan O’Brien has been taking shots at NBC since he found out he’s getting screwed out of The Tonight Show, and last night, he decided to start introducing  “new comedy bits that aren’t so much funny as they are crazy expensive.”  And while the Masturbating Bear is still my favorite character, I think the Bugatti Veyron Mouse is sheer brilliance. This whole clip is funny, but the Bugatti bit starts at 1:25.

Kop Hill Hillclimb 2009

By Antonio Alvendia

Antonio Alvendia

Set in the beautiful country lanes of Princes Risborough, the Kop Hill Hillclimb is one of the oldest hill climbs in England. During the early 1900s it was one of the largest motorsport events in the UK. The hill itself is a pretty straight road, but it’s over 1000 metres long to the summit and rises to 100 metres high. Big crowds would line the edges of the road to watch drivers and motorcyclists try to achieve the fastest times and speeds up the hill. Unfortunately, as the speeds got faster, so did the risks, and on the 28th of March 1925 an accident involving a spectator led to the end of the original Kop Hill event and led to the RAC banning all motorsports on public roads.

On the 26th and 27th of September, organisers decided to do a Kop Hill Commemorative Run to bring the sounds and sights and even smells (mmm, Castrol R) back to Kop Hill again. Over 250 cars and bikes were there, ranging in age from the 1900s right up to 1980s and even some very special modern cars (which no doubt require the owners to compare car insurance carefully). Totally Unfair: Veyron vs GT-R

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

It takes a fast car to make Godzilla look sluggish, but Bugatti’s Veyron, to put it mildly, is one hell of a fast car. It also costs a million bucks more than Nissan’s monster, and every one of those dollars is on display in this clip. I think this kind of comparison, however unfair and kind of silly, is cool because without a benchmark—and let’s face it, a clock can be kind of a boring one—getting some perspective on the Veyron’s insanity-provoking quickness is almost impossible. Bravo to the guys from EVO Magazine for getting to pull of this awesome “test.”
