Where There's Smoke…

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Generally, the old adage about smoke and fire doesn’t hold true during burnouts, but unfortunately, in this case it did. From the intensity of this burnout, the motor underneath the hood of this little Civic must have had some grunt to it. Too bad it’s toast now…

Kid Does 400-Foot Burnout, Plows Dad's '69 Camaro into Trees!

By Brian Lohnes

BangShift.com

Let’s say your dad has a hot 1969 Camaro Pro Touring car and you’re a red-blooded American kid. Your parents go out for the evening and you decide to have a little fun. One kid in New Jersey did just that, put down nearly 400 feet of rubber, and then crashed into the landscaping in a neighbor’s front yard.

BangShift.com forum member Huskinhano lives in the neighborhood where the incident took place, and his son happens to be friends with the kid who had the off-street excursion. Luckily no one was hurt, and the only damage came to the car, a tree, some bushes, and apparently another car that was struck by a tree that stopped the Camaro’s skid. Head over to the BangShift.com forum to read the whole story and see more photos of the carnage.

Pikes Peak: Fiesta Tears Up Parking Lot

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Neither of the two Fiestas entered actually made it to the top of Pikes Peak over the weekend, but this one sure looked cool tearing up the parking lot at a press event. There weren’t any bog surprises at this year’s race, but given how treacherous the course is, that’s almost a good thing. For a good recap of all the action at the Hill Climb check out today’s episode of Fast Lane Daily.

Kid Sits on Hood of SRT-8 Jeep During Burnout

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

So what’s a teenager to do when his parents leave the McMansion and head off to the links? Why not sit on the hood of the SRT-8 Jeep while the driver does burnouts? Of course! Now, I wouldn’t have posted this if I didn’t think it was funny, and it’s not like I didn’t do things just as juvenile or dangerous when I was a kid. But if my blogging this clip gets homeboy grounded, I wouldn’t be upset.

Burnouts From Down Under

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

This clip feature highlights from Australia’s largest burnout competition at Avalon Speedway, and while it doesn’t get off to the best start—the first competitor stalls out—there’s plenty of wicked footage here. My favorite contender has to be the second guy. I don’t know what kind of car he’s rocking, but it’s a blue four-door, it says “Elite” on the side, and the motor is sticking halfway out of the hood. Can any of our Aussie members identify it? I started to get a little bit worried about three quarters of the way through his run, because there looked to be some burly flame action brewing in the back, but fortunately no car-b-que occurs. Make sure to watch this clip in a well-ventilated area, there’s a lot of smoke here!

Time to Make the Donuts: M6 Goes for It!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

Now, I don’t have any statistics on my side, but I’d be willing to bet the vast majority of M-Class BMWs never get driven anywhere near their potential, just as few SUVs ever leave the pavement. Most types who can afford these Bavarian bad-asses probably see the M badge as just another logo that betrays wealth, like a Gucci or D&G emblem on a pair of shades. So it’s pretty cool to see this M6 going for broke in a parking lot. I mean, doesn’t it look so happy lighting up the tires? Fortunately, there was a lot of room to work here, and the little romp left the car intact. This M6 in Dubai didn’t fare as well.

Out of Control: Engine Bay Drifting!

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

This was uploaded to StreetFire this morning, and the description—”Just plain stupid…”—cracked me up. But as someone who’s done tons of “stupid” things in pursuit of a good time, I’m more inclined to call this guy’s stunt totally bad-ass. I mean, hanging out the door is one thing, but climbing into the engine bay while the car is turning donuts? That takes a serious set of stones. Obviously, said stones would get seriously mangled if this daredevil slipped, but hey, life is short.  Let’s just hope we don’t see another clip of this dude with “fail” in the title emerge…
