Fastest Text Message Ever!
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Sending text messages while driving is incredibly dangerous, but sending them at 160 mph during a WOT pull is borderline insanity. Thanks to the stability of the C6 Corvette Z06 no one was hurt, but it could have turned ugly in a split second. Think before you text, especially at 160 miles per hour! SoCal CTS-V, E63 AND C6 'Vette Owners, Royal Purple's "The Forum Wars" Needs You!
By John Coyle
Deputy Editor
We just got word from our buddies over at Royal Purple about “The Forum Wars,” an event that will pit owners of various enthusiast vehicles against each other, and it sounds pretty cool. The bad news is that to compete, you have to been able to be in Los Angeles by Friday. But the good news is that all the battles will be filmed for broadcast on SPEED, so if you’ve ever wanted to show the whole world that your driving shoes aren’t a fashion statement, this is right up your alley. Right now they’re looking for a CTS-V or an E63 Mercedes Benz to race a BMW M5, a Honda Civic Si or Mazdaspeed3 to battle a VW GTi, and a C6 Corvette to pit against a GT500 Shelby Mustang, and there are still plenty of spots. Apparently, the producers are having a hard time finding a ‘Vette owner who’s up to the challenge, so if you own one and know what you’re doing on the track, you should hit them up. Read the full press release with all the details on how to enter after the jump.

Ripping Up The Proving Grounds In A Bondurant C6
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
When I was nine and we were visiting my grandparents in Phoenix, my dad went and did a weekend course at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving instead of taking us kids to Disneyland. And now, after riding along for some hot laps with a Bondurant instructor in one of their c6 Corvettes, I kind of get why he did that. Bondurant had a nice little cone course set up at the Motor Trend Proving Grounds at SEMA. Comically, some Fiesta Movement rides were also running the course in amongst the burly Vettes. The Z51 coupe I rode in has a 430 hp Ls3 mated to a short-throw Tremec six speed–I can’t even imagine how rad it’d be to thrash one of their LS7 Z06′s out on the track. Click below the jump for videos of all the action!

C6 Corvette Z06 Wrecked Into Swamp
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
Another American legend has been lost to the likes of the Florida wooly swamps often cited in Charlie Daniels slices of Americana tradition. It is unknown what caused the Corvette to become saturated with the likes of muck, gunk, and swamp thing excrement. Maybe a skunk ape jumped out in front of it? Maybe the creature from the black lagoon committed grand theft auto? We don’t know for sure, but we do know the outcome.
Florida roads are very dark, even with the best headlights money can afford. With the stock Corvette setup, it’s possible it still could not effectively light the path of the Z06 due to its low lamp height. There is a reason off road vehicles in Florida have auxiliary lighting! Most people want to accuse the owner of horse play, but the fact is that Florida roads are well known to have inadequate signage, low lighting, and random curves that only locals can avoid. The Cars at the Callaway Open House
By Jim Brennan
UDMan
Over the past several days, I have written a few posts about the Callaway Cars open house that was held at their Old Lyme, CT headquarters in October. While I tried to focus on all of the unique vehicles at this gathering, there was not enough time (or daylight) to interview everyone, as well as photograph all of the breathtaking machinery gathered.
This post illustrates some of the other unique machines that were displayed, including cars that are owned by the company, vehicles about to be delivered to new owners, and others owned by folks that I never was able to track down. Think of this as a historic tour of the event. If you want to know more about the company, go to Callawaycars.com. And I have a bunch more Callaway cars after the jump!

C6 Spot: Too Hot For TV?
By John
Editor
While it’s not exactly breaking news, this wicked Corvette C6 spot popped up on CarDomain video this morning, and it’s a total blast to watch. You have to love the disclaimer: "This is a dream. Do not drive without a license. Obey all traffic laws." If it was really pulledas the description suggestsbecause parental groups believed it’d encourage grade school children to drive, then our country is pretty screwed up. Seriously people, please stop ruining everything for the sake of the children! Kids aren’t as dumb as you think they are!
