SoundDomain Sound-Off
- Ben Vollmer has been in the car audio industry for many many years. He’s seen many many demo and competition cars come and go. But a few have always stood out from the rest, and when the opportunity arose for him to actually buy one of his favorites, still with the award-winning competition audio system still intact, he jumped on it! So what’s he planning on doing with it? Find out!
- Al & Ed’s Mr. Mobile is back, and this time he’s featuring a SmartTop convertible roof controller. What the heck is it and what does it do?! Hop over to SoundDomain to find out. And if you’re lucky, you might just win one!
- We jut can’t get enough…. Steve Meade hooked us up with some video walk-arounds showcasing the current status of the Escalade’s insane install. We’ve got three videos to show you, each one testing the system with a different style of music. The old school Micheal Jackson is my particular favorite!

- The Alpine Imprint RLS will always be one of the most amazing demo cars ever produced. But before the Imprint made it’s impression on car audio history, the Alpine crew built the Sinister Six. What started out as an innocent $84,000 BMW 645ci ended up a jaw dropping, road raging, Sinister sports coupe. And SoundDomain has two videos from Alpine following the crew through the amazing build.
- It interesting what you can find in life if you just look a little bit closer…. SoundDomain’s new guestblogger, Ben, writes about the hidden easter eggs found on circuit boards. Who’da guessed engineers had a sense of humor?
- Car manufacturers aren’t the only ones getting hit by Chinese knock-offs; even car audio manufacturers have to step into the ring. Check out the pics of this bogus Alpine amplifier found out in the wild. Would you have spotted it?
- Our main man Steve Meade is back and shaking up a ruckus at Taco Bell. Watch what happens when the two drive thru guys ask for a sample of the Tahoe’s beefy beats. Notice the bills in Taco Dude #2′s hand when Steve gives the magic knob a twist… The looks on their faces are pretty priceless too: from excitement to satisfaction to shock & awe. It’s always a good time with Steve.
- Bored? Add Bluetooth to your 5G iPod.
- We’ve also got a video of CarDomain member Jamminwagon plugging in and jammin’ out on his electric car through his Dodge Magnum’s sound ssytem. Boy’s got some skills, car’s got some beats!
- Scosche built out a pretty crazy demo car for SEMA 2006: a bright orange FJ Cruiser stuffed with EFX gear: eight 12" woofers, twelve amplifiers, seven monitors (including a 32"monitor in the rear door!), twenty speakers, three batteries, and over 9000 watts of power!

- If you haven’t experienced the beauty of Satellite Radio yet, you honestly don’t know what you’re missing. Not only is the programming superior to what you get on repetitive FM radio, the fact that it’s uncensored and little to no commercials on the music channels really is a God-send. If you want to give it a try, but don’t want to spend a lot of money, check out the killer deals Sirius is running! Good ’til March 1st!
- If you just picked up an ’08 Accord and want to swap out the radio, but all the shops told you "No-Can-Do", Scosche just released this color-matched kit for single and double-DIN radios!
- Did you know that JBL speakers can be found in approximately 80% of allmovie theaters in the US and that Lucas Arts (You know, the guys that made Star Wars?) designed initial THXspecifications using JBL speakers? Yep. That’s right. And JBL just released some new Power Series speakers so you can swap out those tin can-sounding factory speakers for some premium quality sound. May the force be with you.
- Ben from Car Audio Nationals just stopped by the to announce the resurrection of the Car Audio Nationals Series of Sound Quality events for competitors on the East Coast (or those further West crazy and dedicated enough to make the trek!). Three events are planned so far, and winners are actually paid CASH to go along with their trophy. Start tuning that sound system!
