18th Annual Greenwood Car Show on Saturday!
Bick66
Yesterday I registered my ’66 Impala for this Saturday’s 18th Annual Greenwood Car Show in North Seattle. Greenwood is hands-down our best community-style car show, where city streets are shut down and cars parked on the diagonal over a long stretch of the main drag. After a sold-out event in 2009, they’ve now expanded the show to encompass over 20 city blocks of Greenwood Avenue. With room for more than 1000 hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and stockers of all makes, there’s bound to be something for everyone. As if that wasn’t enough, they’re also going to have have vintage hydro planes, city buses, Seattle police cars, steamers, electrics, motorcycles and more all together with live music, beer gardens and a variety of local merchants making the Greenwood Car Show one of my favorite days of the year. If you’re anywhere near Seattle, this is a show you won’t want to miss. You can see a few pictures from last year’s show after the jump and more under the CarDomain Events section.

Wintersun Rocks On
Tcassa
The annual Wintersun festival has come and gone, and boy what a show it was! The rock ‘n’ roll event is held each year on Queensland’s Gold Coast, and is an absolute must for anyone interested in all-things American. The festival is now in its 32nd and final year, with government bureaucracy relocating the show 6 hours south, much to the disappointment of all those involved!
My family and I made our way down early Sunday morning to enjoy a nice breakfast before hitting the strip to view the muscle on show. The festival caters for all American muscle enthusiasts, with a variety of 60s and 70s Mustangs, Camaros and Mopars pulling plenty of crouds. I payed special attention to the hot rods that were on display, with my favorite being a beautiful 32 coupe that was near spotless. Plenty of pics after the jump!

Fireball Grills it on Route 66
By Fireball Tim

So I went out to Canyon Country to visit my friends, Andy and Jen. Newlyweds. Just bought a slammin’ new house and wanted to hook up with us at the Route66 Grill. …Where there just happen to be some sweet rides. I unfortunately forgot to tell Kathie that there was a car show in the parking lot. Wups.
Rides. Burgs. Bitchin.’ Like goin’ into a Classic Car CandyStore, these cars came in all shapes and sizes. And the only thing better was the owners. They loved their cars, even the guy with the beat up Pinto Wagon.
Best of Show? The ’49 Merc Sled. That’s was my pick… Check out the whole show…

Trailer Queen < Driver?
By David Clarke
highspeedhijinks
On May 2nd, I attended Rhinebeck, one of the bigger car shows we have here in the Northeast, and happened upon one of the cleanest cars I’ve ever seen. It was a 1967 Chevrolet Chevelle SS. 396, 4 speed, bucket seats, and color-matched wheels with dog dish caps. Checking off this car’s option list would be like checking off your own Christmas wish list. This car looked to have been freshly restored the previous winter and had “better than factory” written all over it. With things like factory-correct hose clamps, a vintage looking Delco battery, and factory chalk markings on the firewall, I knew this car was built for concours judging. I poured over this car for at least 15 minutes, trying to find a flaw in the paint or something that was a little less than immaculate. Its one flaw I found though turned out to be a pretty big one in my book. While crawling amongst the grass to look underneath, I overheard a gentleman say, “I was here early and got to see this one roll off the trailer.” Right then I stopped looking, crushed by what I’d heard. Can’t say I was surprised–it was the cleanest car I’d ever seen at a show. But I can’t help but feel that being a trailer queen diminishes any car that was built to be driven. What do you think–does a trailered car deserve as much respect as a car that drives in? More pictures after the jump.

Muscle in Melbourne
Tcassa
Hundreds of American muscle cars were on display in the heart of Melbourne, Australia this past Sunday. The day long event, appropriately titled the American Motoring Show, included some of the finest iron this side of the Pacific. Rods, replica Cobras, Studebakers, and countless Pony cars to name a few were all fighting for the passing attention, with my favorite being a beautiful 1934 California Kid tribute. With a relaxed atmosphere, this turned out to be one great show! Loads of pics after the jump!

American Muscle At Its Finest
Tcassa
A small but determined group of gearheads braved the wild weather and displayed their American beauties right in the heart of Melbourne this past weekend. A good mixture of old and new American iron was on show, with my favorite being this spotless ’68 Camaro. More pics after the jump!

SpoCom Announces 2010 Dates, Our Shorts Tighten a Bit
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
SpoCom just released its 2010 schedule and we can already tell that it’s going to be three times as good as last year. That’s because SpoCom added two new venues in Nor Cal’s San Mateo and super sexy Honolulu, Hawaii in addition to Long Beach Convention Center that’s coming back to host this show for a third straight year.
We’re big fans of this show as it’s a mix of Hot Import Nights hype, old school Import Showoff substance and SEMA tradeshow info. We haven’t seen a more pleasing blend since the Reese’s people got peanut butter in their chocolate or perhaps since Donny and Marie mashed up a little bit of country with some rock and roll (silly Mormons!).
Hit the jump to see our StreetFire original video from last year’s show as well as the press release from SpoCom showing the times and dates. You can also visit SpoCom USA for more info.

‘Motorvate Melbourne’ Public Rally
Tcassa
The Melbourne Show Grounds played host to ‘Motorvate Melbourne‘ this past Saturday. The event was to encourage all gearheads to come along and support a proposed drag racing venue for Melbourne, which hasn’t staged a championship drag racing event since 2001. The event saw a large number of US and Aussie muscle cars on display, as well as a fantastic lineup of drag cars which were all beautifully presented. Plenty of pics after the jump!

More from the Victorian Hot Rod Show

Fellow blogger Ron posted a little write-up about this year’s Victorian Hot Rod Show earlier this week. I too attended the event over the weekend, and here are some of the lovely examples on show. More after the jump!

Fireball’s Alphabet of Awesomeness… The B’s
By Fireball Tim
Movie Car Design Master
B. …B is a good letter. It stands for BITCHIN.’ Or maybe BOLONEY. Fried Boloney. Or how about BADASS. That’s a good one.
The word “be” suggests the present moment. As in “I be bitchin.” Which you KNOW you are. Not grammatically the best of usages, but hey, we’re car people and we say things like that.
So, here’s the best of the “B’s.” Not all of them, as the list would go on around the moon, but just a teaser. So, after you’ve checked them out… “Be positive and make something of your day.”
The B’s. Oh, and join in on my upcoming CAR SHOW in Huntington Beach.
