The future of automotive technology is quickly progressing towards the greener side of things. This isn’t always bad though, especially when considering advancements in electrical storage and vehicular weight reduction.  Replacing the battery and excessive wiring thus reducing weight, this is sure to hit the automotive and electronic market like a tidal wave. $25K Carbon Fiber Office Chair. Okay, This Is Just Getting Silly…

By Jen Dunnaway

Editor

If your idea of automotive-themed furniture is that junkyard Astro Van backseat you use to pile crap on in the garage, Mansory’s line of office furniture is going to seem a little excessive. Hell, it’s probably going to seem a little excessive anyway, especially when you can think of entire cars you can buy for less than the cost of these knick-knacks. Aside from how dumb the whole carbon-fiber-everything fad is getting, the silliness of these chairs lies in their claim to be luxury-car-inspired–what, because of the similar color scheme and materials? Good thing for Mansory that there’s enough people in the world with more money than sense. Via BornRich.

ASI F430 Murders For Fun

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

I’ve said too much about ASI.  And I know I need to calm down and stop blogging about the company, but how could I not share this amazing F430? ASI is just killing everyone.

If only this car had used one of the three super nice ASI Dry Carbon F430 wings, this car would have put people in the hospital. Get me an ASI street version dry carbon wing and some Amuse B type gold ring titan exhaust tips on here and game over.

Seibon's Carbon Fiber Lotus Elise

By John Coyle

Deputy Editor

At 1995lbs, the Lotus Elise is one of the lightest cars on the road, and you’d figure that with Seibon’s all carbon body, it’d be significantly lighter than stock. But since the Elise’s body is already made out of hyper-light composite, all this expensive work actually made the car heavier, which is kind of lame. Though I do love the way the mirrors are mounted up on the fenders. More pics after the jump.

Carbon Fiber Roll Cage

By Ben Schaffer

The Real JDM

While browsing through some European magazines at a local book store I came across a company called Oakley Design (no relation to Oakley sunglasses) who was advertising some innovative products for the Porsche 997. This was nearly a year ago that I saw their advertisement but something really caught my eye…it was a carbon fiber roll cage.

Now at this point I’m used to seeing carbon fiber wrapped roll bars, strut tower bars, etc. But the extent of carbon fiber on chassis-reinforcement bars that I’ve seen has been entirely cosmetic and simply hiding the metal underneath a carbon fiber skin. More…

World’s First One-Piece, 100% Carbon Fiber Wheels

By Rob Einaudi

Editor-in-Chief

I’ve seen carbon fiber wheels with magnesium centers like these Dymags, but nothing all carbon. Well, turns out "an international group of PhDs, physicists, and engineers, using the latest carbon fiber nanotube (CTN) aerospace nanotechnology" are working together in a secret underground laboratory to create the world’s first one-piece, 100% carbon fiber wheels. Only, they’re not sure which car to build them for first, and they haven’t decided on price. But we will definitely let you know when we learn more. In the meantime, if you own a high end sports car, they want your opinion. I think it would make sense to start out with the Z06, but then I drive an old Mopar with 15" steel wheels, so what do I know…
