Awesome Spring Festival of the LXs Recap Video
By Jen Dunnaway

Dodge just posted this video on their Facebook page. Great summary of one very cool car show, featuring a lot of enthusiasts talking about their Challengers, Chargers, Magnums and 300s. There’s a lot of cars here I’d love to know more about–like the SRT-8 Magnum re-skinned as a ’68 Charger. Take a look.

What New Vehicle Would You Pick For a Cross-Country Road Trip?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Summer is here. Let’s say you have a month off to criss-cross the country in the new vehicle of your choice. The car is yours to use for free, you just have to pay for gas. And it has to be under $50k (so yes the base Vette just squeeks by). I’d go with the Challenger SRT-8. How about you?

Cops: Do You Respect Them or Hate Them?
By Steve Little

It seems like anytime anything about the police is posted on any blog or forum, there’s always some folks who universally hate cops while others respect them. And yeah, cops are an unavoidable issue for those of us who enjoy our cars and drive fast, so you’ve got to deal with them one way or another. Hit the jump to read on…

Limited Edition Mopar ’10 Challenger
By Jen Dunnaway

Dodge is going to be rolling out a run of 500 of these special Mopar-badged Challengers. While it appears to be primarily a trim package, each of these rides will also bring to bear some of the more popular goodies from the Motor Parts division’s catalog–the engine looks to be getting the Mopar bolt-on treatment, including the cold-air intake with the functional hood scoop, adding about 15 hp. The handling is stiffened up with strut bars and the Super Trac Pack, which includes beefier suspension components throughout. I dig the painted gloss-black wheels and the retro chrome T-shifter (automatic only–the manual gets a pistol-grip), and the blackout grille and hoodpins give the face a raw muscle-car look. The Mopar ’10′s will all come in black metallic, with the accent stripe in a choice of four colors. Pretty cool that it’s the first production Dodge to wear the Mopar badging. I’m glad to see the company rolling out enthusiast-targeted versions of their vehicles, and I’d like to see them go a little more aggressive–maybe some day we’ll get the 1320! Via Dodge’s Facebook page, with more on the Mopar ’10 at allpar.

Challenger Corral At Daytona
By Jen Dunnaway

Being that the Challenger was making its official debut in NASCAR’s Nationwide Series this weekend, Dodge invited Challenger owners to come enjoy the VIP treatment for the show at Daytona. A bunch of them jumped on the chance to enjoy admission to both the Nationwide and Sprint Cup races, catered lunch, and reserved Challengers-only parking. I went with a couple of the guys from Dodge’s agency to check out the parking lot, and it was like a mini Challenger show out there. Apart from the lambo-doored Plum Crazy purple R/T and the SRT with the mirror-lined engine compartment, there wasn’t a lot of over-the-top custom work, but it was a great opportunity to look at all the subtle variations in badging and trim as well as the array of ready-to-wear gingerbread available from Mopar, and to get some idea of what I’d want my Challenger to look like if I ever got one. I think my favorite was the mostly-debadged stealth olive-gray with the black painted steelies. Though I also liked the couple of Inferno Reds, which will always remind me of the R/T I drove down the Oregon Coast with Chris a couple years back. More pics below the jump–which one’s your favorite?

Mustang vs. Challenger at Daytona Tonight: Will It Happen?
By Jen Dunnaway
Editor
I never in a million years anticipated that witnessing the new Nationwide cars on the track in person for the first time would be what they call a “religious experience,” but I got chills watching the new Mustangs and Challengers roar around the high banks of Daytona during qualifying today. The advent of these cars in NASCAR feels historic in a somehow visceral way that I can’t completely explain. More to the point, it feels right. These lean, well-differentiated cars have been what NASCAR has needed for a long time now.
But will they even get to race? It’s raining in Daytona at time of writing, though they’re saying it’s going to dry out in time for tonight’s race. Sprint Cup qualifying was canceled due to the weather, while the earlier Nationwide quals yielded the pole to Brad Keselowski, with another Dodge, the No. 26 of Parker Kilgerman, in the second spot. Dale Earnhardt Jr. will start from 3rd in his one-time No. 3 Chevy, with fourth place going to Justin Allgaier. By all estimates, it’s going to be an interesting race for the largely unproven New Car, Junior is looking to be a factor, and those Challengers are mad fast and badass. If it gets to happen, I don’t see how it could not be the most awesome NASCAR race in recent memory. Hit the jump for a few more pics from qualifying, and tune in at 7:30 Eastern tonight on ESPN to see how it all shakes out!

The Challengers Are Coming!
By Karan Singh
StreetFire.net
The British soccer team better watch out today because the good ol’ U. S. of A. is good at creating freedom and automobiles. Not sure how it directly relates to soccer but Dodge’s marketing team came up with this somewhat funny clip of our original Commander in Chief, George Washington chasing away the redcoats in a Challenger SRT8. Hopefully this video did the trick and spooked the British! Now seeing the Challengers on the field would definitely be something worth seeing! Challenger Soccer definitely sounds more appealing the Motorcycle Soccer.
Good Luck Team USA!
