Daytona in the Barn, and Two Hemi Chargers, and One V Code 70 Charger: Barn One
By Ryan Brutt
hemipwr70
What started out as a terrible weekend, ended up as a not so terrible weekend. A friend of mine’s uncle had passed away and I had known him for many years. So I would be attending his funeral on Sunday, November 9th. I planned on spending the weekend out there, so I knew I couldn’t help the family in Saturday, why not go out and hunt for cars… Oh boy did that thought snowball.
I made a post about me heading to Bloomington, IL on www.moparts.com forums. Two members from down there, Shad and Scott both told me that they would like to meet up and show me some of the stuff they knew about lying around. They didn’t get into specifics, though.
I drove down Friday night, so I could meet up with the guys on Saturday. That was a long drive at night. The Challenger did fine, and I got on the girl a bit. But still I was glad to plunker down in my hotel room for the night.

Who Still Thinks Vertical Doors Are Cool?
By Jen Dunnaway

Why, Vertical Doors Inc., of course. The company had a lambo-doored Camaro and Charger in their booth at SEMA this year. As Nelson would say, Ha-ha!

The General Lee Charger Trar
By Brian Lohnes

Here’s another entry for our continuing fascination with trars: the 4×4 General Lee! This looks like something from a very special episode of Dukes, but it’s real life for a guy called SunroofSuperbird over at Moparts.com. See the Moparts forum thread here.

Mountain Men, Cars in Barns and Crazy Bees: Part Deux
By Ryan Brutt
hemipwr70
The Charger was another story. 1970 Charger R/T with a 69 R/T front sheet metal and a 70 Super Bee hood scoop welded on–not well, though. It was a really interesting car. It wasn’t in that bad of shape. It wasn’t good, but very restorable.

Dodge Charger Resto
By Ron Honig
waytoofurious
What do you see when you look at this photo? Yes, it is a Charger on a rotisserie. However when I look at it I see some real inspiration. This Charger belongs to CarDomain member mopar_nut_440_6 who has done just about all the metal work on the car himself. When you are staring down the barrel of a full nut and bolt restoration on your own Charger like I am, something like this only helps to reinforce your own plans. Get the full story on James’s ride page. If you are wondering James is currently building a new garage and hopes to have the car finished for next year.

Fast and Furious Charger Heads to Monterey Auction
By Fireball Tim
Hollywood Movie Car Design Master
So, the boys at Cinema Vehicles are furiously trying to finish the original Fast and Furious Charger (from the first movie) so that it can head to Monterey for the Mecum Auction. This beast should fetch a pretty penny and here’s why….
Ah hem…
The motor is a Mopar 528 Hemi with Indy cylinder racing heads. A Blower Shop 8/71 blower with electronic fuel injection and BDS Bugcatcher scoop with a NOS 250 HP nitrous injection. Hold on, gotta catch my breath for a second…
….Ok, good to go. It has a TCI prepped auto tranny with a Currie 9″ rear. The motor’s been dynoed at 915hp on 91 octane,…. um, without NOS.
You still standing? Get to Monterey and see this monster…

Help Plan Mr. Angry’s Road Trip Across America
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Mr. Angry is once again embarking on a cross country journey. This time from he’s running from NYC to Reno, Nevada for Hot August Nights and then onto Monterrey, California for the Concours at Pebble Beach. The thing is, he hasn’t finalized his route yet, and he wants your help. Ideally, he’d like to hit as many tracks, car shows or cruise nights as possible, and would love to meet up with CarDomain member along the way. In fact, he’ll have Mr. Angry t-shirts to give out to anyone who manages to track down the ‘68 Charger. And of course he’d love to caravan with anyone who’s interested. Check out this thread at DodgeCharger.com and then let us know your route suggestions in the comments below. The road trip starts Saturday July 25 and of course Mike will be documenting the journey right here on CarDomain!

What Does it Take to Sell a Car These Days?
By Ron Honig
waytoofurious
I realize that things are tough in the car market, particularly in the area of collector cars. People are really holding onto their cash these days, so what does it take to sell that ’special’ car? I have come to the conclusion that it takes a lot of effort. To demonstrate this I give you exhibit A, which is this highly modified Charger. Then there is exhibit B, which is the Plymouth Road Runner from the Wrecks to Riches show. I have lost count of the amount of times that I have seen both advertised on E-bay! By the time you read this the Charger sale will have ended but to date there have been no bids. Admittedly the $179,000 asking price is probably scaring away any buyers. The Plymouth on the other hand is priced at a more realistic $69,000. However at that price you could build one yourself, the way you want it. So what do you think, are these collectibles over-priced or are times just to tough to make a sale?

Should I Keep The Correct Year Tail Lights For My Charger?
By Ron Honig
waytoofurious
As I have now moved into my new home, I can finally contemplate getting the Charger out of storage and re-starting the restoration. I went to check it out on Saturday and found that one of the tires had gone flat. Unfortunately it wouldn’t hold air despite the best efforts of my compressor. A quick trip to one of the local tire emporiums fixed that. While I was getting the tire fixed I kept thinking how much more I prefer the round tail lights from the ‘68 Charger to the lights on the ‘69 and ‘70 cars. As I am going to be doing a full rotisserie restification, it will be the perfect opportunity to make the alterations for a different set of lights. What do you think, should I fit a set of ‘68 tail lights to my ‘70 Charger?

Topo’s Widebody Super Bee
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Topo just sent me a bunch of pics of his B5 blue 2008 Dodge Charger Super Bee edition, number 31 out of 1,000. Since this is Topo we’re talking about, it features a widebody front and back with all metal construction. It’s got 22 inch Forgiato wheels wrapped with 335/25-22 Pirellis (the front wheels are 10 inches wide with a 4 1/2 inch lip and the rears are 12 inches wide with a 7 inch lip). It has a Techco twin screw supercharger chromed and polished, a Challenger style hood, Memphis audio sound system, custom R1 concept custom rotors and a CKS coil over suspension. A ton more pics after the jump!

The Charger Freak Show Is Back, With Extra Stupidness
By Rob Einaudi

We showed you this ridiculous Charger back in December. Well, the owner has tacked on some more garbage, like this fake blower with a Cobra hood ornament stuck on top. Awesome, huh? Think the guy is doing it for for the Internet notoriety, or is he just nuts? More pics after the jump! Via Jalopnik

House of Angry
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Before I left New York, Mike took me out to Westchester, where he keeps the Daytona. It’s probably no big surprise, but this thing looks even more awesome in person than it does in photos. And I’ve seen plenty of wing cars over the years.
If you’ve sat in a B-body, you’ve sat in them all. But of course, being a wing car, you’ve got any extra couple feet of nose cone hanging off the front. You definitely want to leave plenty of room in traffic!
Mike showed me what the Daytona is capable of a the freeway cloverleaf. This big Mopar is impressive, especially when you consider it’s a 40 year old, 4,200 pound car. Unlike my junky old B-body, it corners dead flat. And of course, Mike knows how to drive it.
