What’s Your Best Car Injury Story?
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
In my experience around classics, there hasn’t been much I haven’t done to myself. I’ve had fingers pinched by a Packard Patrician, knuckles annihilated by a Triumph TR-250, and knee incised during Healey Hundred ingress. If I were to rate the injuries, though, my best has been nearly knocking myself out cold from hitting my head on the corner of a Ferrari 308 GT4 engine lid water runoff tray.
That was until yesterday, when I managed to hurt myself in a way most auto fanatics could only dream of: I ran over my big toe with a 105-year-old car! Continue reading after the jump.

Back to the 50s Weekend (part 2)
Neuwerks
Older cars are really interesting by themselves, but when you throw some period correct accessories on top of an old DeSoto (including beehive), it can really take you back. What I really liked about this example, was the fact that the old paint, surface rust, and other paint blemishes were all well preserved under a few layers of clear coat.

Minnesota Back to the 50s Weekend (Part 1)
Neuwerks
One thing that Minnesota is known for is our yearly state fair. It is considered by many to be the largest in the nation, with the grounds itself taking up most of the Falcon Heights community. Inside the fairgrounds, exists a huge network of streets, buildings, and parking areas that are used sporadically during the year for other events needing the space. Most of these buildings were built in the 1950s or earlier, and provide the prefect setting for one of the largest classic car shows in the world.

What Are the Worst Automotive Follow-Up Acts?
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
Wouldn’t it be nice to live in a simple world where good cars are good, great cars are great, and bad cars are bad? Unfortunately, there’s a whole spectrum of gray between History Onyx and White Knight.
The most difficult cars to judge are often those models that replaced truly fabulous vehicles. Fair or not, some acts are tougher to follow than others. Just ask the Rolling Stones, whose 1973 number-one album Goats Head Soup(containing “Angie” (also a number-one) and “(Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo) Heartbreaker”) was bashed as a lame effort by critics and fans who had been listening to the band’s instant classic Exile on Main Street album for the last year.
Just like in music, there are plenty of good, bad and ugly follow-ups to great cars. To help sort out the reality from perception, I present Sound Classics’ list of the Toughest-Luck Classic Car Follow-up Efforts.

Five Inexpensive Ways To Qualify For Exotic Brand Ownership Clubs
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
Too many car enthusiasts stand on the sidelines thinking that classic ownership is out of their means. This is especially true of those whose primary automotive dream is limited to exotic brands. The fact of the matter is that you don’t need a trust fund or an AIG-style bonus to buy and maintain a sports car or luxury GT capable of gaining entry into exotic marque ownership clubs. Sometimes all you need is about a grand, some patience and luck.
And before you think this is like my college roommate’s favorite party mantra of “set your sights high and keep your standards low,” the following affordable exotics actually are cars you can be certain will not only appreciate in value, but also be enjoyable and reliable. Sure, most of these cars are the whipping boys and joke magnets, but that doesn’t mean they’re bad – it just means that other cars from the marque are better.
Since not all of us can afford the best, I’ve put together a list of five inexpensive options for those wanting to own an example from great brands. See the full list after the jump!

Five Guilty-Pleasure Cars That Are More Fun To Drive Than You'd Expect
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
I ran a story on my Four Wheel Drift site recently titled “Five Classics That Aren’t Nearly As Fun To Drive As People Think They Are” that proved to be pretty controversial. Call a baby ugly and evidently you’re bound to be read the Riot Act from a number of angry parents.
To even out my Karma (or Car-ma, as the case might be), I’ll let CarDomain readers know that there are also five guilty-pleasure cars that are much more fun to drive than people think. We’ll see if you all agree with my picks.

Sound Classics Crowns New King…Make That New Queen Of Car Trivia
By Sam Barer
Sound Classics
As usual, the Classically-Tough Trivia Quiz puzzled many of the best automotive minds. Like in previous years, after sifting through the submissions in the Sound Classics inbox, we found the average score was well under ten points.
That’s where “usual” stopped and Classically-Tough “firsts” began. For the first time in the CTTQ’s history, the contest was won a) by a non-American and b) by a person lacking a Y-chromosome.
