Are You Serious…?
By David Clarke
highspeedhijinks
One thing I’ve seen time and time again in my 15 years going to regular car shows is that people have no concept of money or what things are worth, and the car corral at the recent Rhinebeck show was proof-positive of that once again. Like many years before it, the corral was filled with clone cars asking real car prices, Grandmas’ low miles daily drivers, and rotted-out hulks of metal that used to be cars. The latter category is what I would call highway robbery to anyone even thinking of making a purchase. How someone can slap a multi-thousand dollar price on something I can see through is beyond me. Take this 1970 Impala convertible–it’s a mess. The seller’s statement of “Doesn’t run, Needs work” is an understatement if I’ve ever heard one. With a broken right front spring and flat tire on the same wheel, almost worn-through paint, no actual metal left behind the rear wheel and a top that hasn’t come up since the Regan administration, it looks like a wounded junk yark dog. What may you ask is this car worth to someone like me? About 200 dollars as a parts car. What the seller wants is a far cry from that–follow the jump to see his well-placed ad. Convertible 2nd Gen Firebird on eBay
Bick66
We all know that GM never produced a factory convertible option for the second generation Camaro or Firebird, but every now and then you see one that’s been converted. This 1981 Pontiac Firebird Formula was recently pulled from storage with only 22,000 miles on the odometer and in need of only minor attention. Given its new rag-top, fresh tuneup and like-new exterior some lucky bidder is going to have a badass ride. You can bet that no one else on your block will have one like it and the best part is there’s no reserve! Check out more pictures after the jump and see the eBay auction here.

Convertible Dodge Charger on 30′s
Tampa Sports Car Examiner
When it comes to going big, this convertible Dodge Charger on 30′s makes a mockery of the term. Love it or hate it, the hi-riser look has solidified into more than just a passing fad. So we have to ask–is this hot or not? Read more about the donkified Charger at Tampa Sports Car Examiner.

I liked the color combo on this car but maybe I’m biased. But what’s up with the harness pass throughs on the seats? Where are the anchor points? More pics after the jump!

Hemmings Find of the Day – Mercury Marauder Concept Convertible
By Dan Strohl
Hemmings
Heyyyy, didn’t we just see this 2002 Mercury Marauder concept car recently? Yes, it was one of the many cars that crossed the block at Mecum Kissimmee last month (the Mecum ad for the car remains up for now as well). We see from the auction results on Mecum’s home page that it bid up to $50,000, but didn’t hit the seller’s reserve. So now we see the seller’s putting it up for sale again, here on Hemmings.com, with an asking price of $75,000. From the seller’s description:
This one-of-one 2002 Mercury Marauder was built by Ford for the Chicago Auto Show. Ford invested over $300,000 in this unique contender, which features a supercharged 4.6 liter V-8 rated at 335 horsepower, 3-speed console-shifted automatic. Beautiful Leather interior with just 107 miles.

Along Came Porsche’s Boxster Spyder
By John Naderi
StreetFire.net
Porsche premiered it’s 2011 Boxster Spyder at the LA Auto Show and while different manufacturers define Spyder differently (Ferrari, Mitsubishi) to Porsche it means an agile, lightweight, mid-engined roadster, the lineage of which began with the iconic 1953 550 Spyder. In fact the Boxster model line itself is attributed as a spiritual successor to the OG Spyder.
Upon first glance the Boxster Spyder separates itself visually from the rest of Boxster family by the space just aft of the seats occupied by the most voluptuous pair of domes this side of a Carrera GT (or perhaps, Joanna Krupa). Hit the jump to see what else differentiates this Spyder from its Boxster brethren.

These are the same guys who brough the green Challenger convertible to SEMA last year. Looks great, but I think I’d wait for the factory version. More pics at Drop Top Customs.

Automotive Traveler
I had the pleasure of the first drive of the ultimate Challengers, Mr. Norm’s Challenger and ‘Cuda ragtop versions of Dodge’s reincarnated muscle car. Based on the highly regarded Challenger SRT-8, the Mr. Norm’s 426 Hemi Challenger and 426 Hemi ‘Cuda convertibles do what Chrysler should have done right from the start, offer a ragtop version of its retro iconic muscle car thus opening a new and open air chapter in the Challenger’s storied history that now spans nearly 40 years.
Mr. Norm’s Garage isn’t some backyard car company. All the Mr. Norm’s Challengers and ‘Cudas are built in a state-of-the-art, 26,000 square foot facility located in Hudson, Florida, where design, prototyping and turnkey Mr. Norm’s performance vehicles are built. Working directly with Mr. Norm, who made Grand Spaulding Dodge in Chicago the Mecca for ultimate Mopar muscle cars during the golden age of high performance, Mr. Norm’s Garage continues this proud legacy by offering a comprehensive line of award winning modern and vintage Mr. Norm’s vehicles, parts and accessories. Ma Mopar Sending Green SEMA Challenger Vert to the Scrap Yard?
By Rob Einaudi
Editor-in-Chief
Jalopnik posted this an hour ago. Looks like it’s the same car they had in the Mopar booth at SEMA last year. My buddy Dale in Detroit thinks it’s the same car. I know Dodge cancelled the production Challenger vert, but are they really gonna just scrap the show car?
Update: I’m being told that Coach Builders Ltd. built two of these cars, and both were painted the same green. One is now privately owned by Coach Builders, and the other is owned by Chrysler and is being scrapped.
Update #2: Now I’m told that Mopar Performance stepped in and saved the car. The new plan is to mod the hell out of it. I’ll keep you posted.
